Men at the top of their game don’t need to look like they’re dangerous to be dangerous. They know they are.

My dad was a seal for over 20 years, never would tell anyone he was a seal unless some else brought it up. The most incredible man I have ever known

I've worked in prisons and with the police force. The hardest, strongest, toughest guys I've met have actually been some of the most chilled and least aggressive people I've ever known. When you are insecure, you always have to project a false confidence and many can see through it. Real men can just relax and be themselves with no pretences. Real men are great company.

One of my best friends is retired Israeli Special Forces. He's small, quiet, humble. I asked what it took to get through his training and his simple answer was, "We were too stubborn to quit."

The baddest dude I have ever met worked in a famously secretive tier 1 unit in the Army, and was the most humble and teachable person I’ve met.

When I was young, I never understood why "Humility", expressed from the bible and other philosophical text, was important.
It confused me why things I used to think as confidence, self esteem, pride, positivity, were just me being arrogant. Because in reality; I was being over-confident, fake self esteem, overtly prideful, delusional-ly positive.
I thought that there were nothing wrong with these things as long as I am not hurting anyone. But then one day I realized, that the only thing it was hurting, was myself. These things stunted and limited my personal growth development.

The day I became HUMBLE and have HUMILITY, I experienced growth and development to higher plateaus.
I don't need validation from anyone. I don't need a "thank you". I don't need recognition or acknowledgement. What satisfies me is knowing I gave it my all; my results and my own performance.

Somone being humble is the first thing I look for in friends. This includes women I might date. If you are arrogant, I don't need you in my life.

This reminds me of when I met a hitman at a party. It was revealed to me later on that he was a hitman. He was the nicest guy in the room…. He was humble, and engaging. He really took an interest is what people around him had to say, including myself.

It really shook me up for awhile..

Rangers only come in two models. They're either weirdly skinny and way stronger than you think you would be or they're built like brick-shit-houses and they're way faster/have more endurance than it looks like they should.
They have what I'd call selective arrogance. If it's a competition, they're arrogant as hell. The second it becomes about learning, they shut up and listen like you're telling them the secrets of the universe.

My son in law is a ranger. He is one of the kindest, most intelligent and, humble men I know. He's a little on the short side, but solid as a rock.

I've read several books written by former SF guys and one of the things I noticed was that they all said the same thing about the best people being the guys of average physique with a brain and a heart that just won't let them quit. The supposed super studs almost all wash out of the higher level training.

Arrogance comes from delusion and confidence comes from reality.

I have found that meditating in Scripture every day develops the deepest reservoirs of inner fortitude and self-determination more than any thing else.

"Strengthen Thou me according unto Thy Word" (Psalm 119:28).

Another way of explaining how humility helps you in this way is this:
If you think of you enemy as your equal, as just you, but in a diff body, then you can never underestimate your enemy. You think they are as smart as you, then you might predict them better for real. They might fall for things that you fall for.

It's like a whole new realm of potential for you to be competitive in this world, if you be humble and see others as your equals by default. Know yourself, know your enemy.

The humble warrior is always aware he doesn’t know everything. Every scenario is different. And there’s always a gotcha. Gotta be prepared.
