I had a pitt puppy when I had my 9 month old son and teaching them things at the SAME TIME was soooo hard but what I learned was redirection was key for small humans and puppies! 😂 they’re absolute best friends now after 5 years together ❤

You don't need to provide positive punishment. Taking the object away is negative punishment and removing the stimulus. You then provide the correct item to chew and follow up with a reward.

This is basic behavior modification through animal behavior analysis. Not everything needs a "correction" especially with biting hands corrections can actually lead to aggression if done improperly. There is a different training method for those types of situations.
