I recently bought Acer Aspire 5 that has a Thunderbolt 4 port, very cheap and good notebook.Then I will buy an eGPU connector plus an old Nvidia Quadro GPU, totally I will have an expensive workstation notebook for CAD. (old Quadro for Thunderbolt 4 - eGPU connector loss) Why shouldn't I make it? My friend already using this combination and also it is very cool at office.. :D

I've got an RTX 3090 sitting from my old desktop build. Thinking of getting an E-GPU enclosure and hooking it up to my laptop. I work in VFX and animation and just need more GPU power. Still worth it you think? Don't have the space for a desktop right now.

The video contains many points that are wrong, i guess he has never ever seen the prices on sites like ali express and others. I have personally seen many people adding an egpu in a little cost and actually using their laptops to play games with pretty decent graphics and speed. He maybe has just done a very primary level research.

Nah mate. This is the future. Compatibility is a must, but a mid tier last gen card will do wonders over a laptop gpu. Better power draw, and stable temps, given the larger form factor. Hope this trend paves the way to bigger and better things in the future.

I VJ and do projection mapping for my DJing. An eGPU is the solution for only needing one computer/laptop that allows me to get the portability when I need it and the power when I want it

How good is a phased out Nitro 5 1650 GPU gaming laptop with a AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz (where im from these products are gone 2-3 years ago other than the left over ones that have yet to have an owner) with the use of External GPU to bolster its performance for games like PACIFIC DRIVE (wanted an upgrade to increase visual and enjoy its atmosphere in HD.

For the target E GPU I would go to the new generation laptops (cheapest/minimal standard in my country) using the 2050 GPU.

Im wondering if the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H is good enough to handle 2-3k GPU series.

This may be helpful for some, but I'm here because I'm looking to expand the capabilities of my high-end work laptop (ASUS Duo 2024) to have a 2nd system to play one game my wife and I are both interested in together. I already have an above adequate PC for gaming, which wasn't built for gaming but 3d rendering. The laptop is perfectly adequate most of the time, but it runs hot because of the GPU bottleneck when doing demanding tasks, which is fine because the CAD software I use bottlenecks before it does. My test of this game, however, actually crashed the system after about an hour.

So it's good to know not to splurge on extremely high-end cards because the data-transfer rate won't be optimal. I hadn't considered that. But the rest of the video wasn't for me.
