Because of you, I have started including Olympic lifts into my routine. Since it's pretty technique heavy, I'm only focusing on cleans for now. As a martial artist, it will be very interesting to see how my performance increases over time.

YouTube recommended your channel to me and I’ve looked at about a dozen of your videos and I want to tell you bro your content is fucking legit.

You're so right about NFL players, especially running backs, receivers, offensive line!

Conclusion: include power training, less taxing, but still insure neural recruitment

This is exactly what I've been thinking and exactly what I've been looking for.

I'm copying this from a post i saw, i thought it's really interesting, what's your take on this?

I listened to Boyd Epley give a talk a few weeks back. He was the S&C for Nebraska from the 70s through the 90s. Good talk, emphasized squatting, eating, not running ect ect.

A key point he made was that the clean portion of the power clean was irrelevant to athletic performance (RE: Strength). That actually racking the bar had no bearing on an athletes strength or performance, basically, it's show.

They simply performed high pulls (From a deadlift position, pull it, hip triple extension, pull the bar past nipple, which means bending the elbows and nearly hitting your chin).

Basically, pull it the same heigh as a PC, just never turn it over.

I performed some yesterday in place of PCs on Madcow's. Felt fantastic (outside of hitting myself in the chin). Felt it in the hammies/glutes and it flat out destroyed the traps.

I read the Starr article as well.

For me, the rack has always been the limiting factor for my Cleans. I can pull significantly more than I can get under. Since I have no desire to compete in Oly lifting, not sure what point there is in me racking the weight.

Boyd Epley is guy coaching athletes for 40 years now in case you didn't know

Hey Alec, well said my friend. I completely agree with everything you discussed in this video with regard to how dynamic pulls influence athletic performance. You continue to bring the absolute best contact to the forefront of YouTube fitness. The only thing I was curious about is would recommend that dynamic pulls such as power cleans be done on the same day as squats, or on alternate days? Some viewers looking to incorporate these into their routine may wonder what’s the best way to program them in if they’re already squatting.

Would be productive to prime yourself using highpulls before deadlifts and box jumps before squats?

Great video. I played football at the college level and I can totally relate. I still do power cleans and power snatch from time to time but I would like to start doing them consistently again. You've inspired me. I just turned 44, how would you program them into a routine set and rep wise? Also how many times a week. I currently train 4 days per week

Would the standard power clean be the best place to start if never having done any "dynamic pulls"? I regularly do deads, bench, squat & OHP but never cleans except once in high school.

I've been doing sghp everyday Bulgarian style but I don't get the same trap DOMS I used to and I miss it.

Do you ever notice uneven muscle DOMs? Is it a bad sign? Just curious as you don't believe that DOMs means muscle growth.

Is it due to muscle/form imbalances? I noticed it can be either the left or right muscle that can hurt more so it's not like it's always the same.
