Judaism, at 4000 years old it is one of the oldest monotheistic religions and the granddaddy of Christianity and Islam. But even though its teachings helped create the world’s two most popular religions many people don’t know what the Jews actually believe.

Judaism developed in the eastern Mediterranean over the last 4000ish years. Today there are about 15 million Jews making it the world’s tenth-largest religion.

What is the Torah? What’s a Covenant? And why does no one worship mermen in the Middle-East anymore? Well Let’s Find out.

Being Muslim I actually never understood why the hell we are against so bitterly against each even having so so much common belief among us.

As an orthodox jew, one thing I love about Judaism is that we don’t try to convert people to our religion, we believe that you don’t have to be Jewish to be doing the right thing.

My favourite Judaism-themed joke:
An Orthodox rabbi was asked whether or not it is permitted in the Law to ride in an airplane on the sabbath. The rabbi answered "Yes, but only if you keep your seatbelt on for the whole flight, because then you will technically be wearing the plane instead of riding it."

I’m Jewish and grew up orthodox. I just wanted to tell you this was all extremely accurate and you pronounced everything so well (no all perfect but extremely close!). Thank you for actually doing research and representing us well! <3

It's remarkable how many people in this comment sections can be so civil and polite from Jews, Christians, Muslims and non-Abrahamics while their replies are filled with aggressive mfers who can't handle nice words and have to make it a battle of "My ReLiGiOn Is BeTtEr ThAn YoUrS" or "Religion is stupid and you're stupid"

As a Jew, I was a little nervous about watching this, but having done so, I want to congradulate you on managing a fair introduction to the religion in around 15 minutes. Well done.

I first got to learn about Judaism in college but only via my Muslim friends, who described Jewish people "unclean and unworthy of even mentioning". Which got me extremities interested in Judaism and started studying about it. I made many Jewish friends online as well as here in India (kasol and manali). I must say I really like my Jewish friends their culture. You people are real example of resilience and persistence. Love from India❤️

You forgot about Mizrahi Jews. Jews who fled to other Arab/Persian Kingdoms after being slaves in Babylon, and have lived there for about 2 millennia. Yes… I am Mizrahi Jewish😏 🇪🇬🇮🇷

As a Hindu I am amazed by this religion

Ps: stop fighting jeez, guys please love and respect each other. All of our religions share these moral teachings. Kindly see the humanity in each other and move on.

Great video! As an agnostic jew living in Israel I can definitely confirm most of what you said in the video. Although, I find two small mistakes.
1. When you wrote the Hebrew word for the tanakh the letters were flipped. Probably because your software does not support left to right writing.
2. The past participle form on yeet is yoten, not yeeted.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

I am teaching a world religions class and these videos were a HUGE help. All my students absolutely loved them. Do you have any plans to do a video on Christianity? Nowadays many people in the West don't know as much about it as was once assumed. And even those who are familiar may have a vastly incomplete understanding of the basics. Anyway, thanks for these!

Majority of Jewish population were in exile for 2000 years, but Jewish communities never ceased to exist in Israel during that time.

Hello! I’m Jewish and you got it pretty much right but I do have some nitpicks, so Yiddish has mostly gone out of use except for certain communities outside of Israel and a couple words still in use for ashkenaz Jews, the Talmud is actually a discussion and explanation on the Mishna which is a collection of laws past down through generations from Moshe, along with those books and many many others we understand how to follow the Torah and I should point out the a lot of the words in this video have Hebrew counterparts that are how most Jews actually refer to those things and a very very small nitpick when you talk about “kosher” you would use the word kashrut but overall you got it pretty right

It’s weird that he says “Jews aren’t a Race” but Jews do see themselves as a race. Atheist Jews exist. Jews are a race and if you look closer, they look different from whites
