Was Adam, the first human in the Hebrew Bible, the first mystic? Why does tradition hold that one should not study Jewish mysticism -- known as Kabbalah-- until age 40? Where were the centers of Jewish mystical teaching before the city of Safed in the northern mountains of Israel rose to become the hub of Kabbalah in the 15th century? Learn the answers to these questions, as well as how Kabbalah took root in Jewish life and culture, in the first episode of the AIB series, "Exploring Kabbalah."

I can tell you approaching and turning 40 my understanding did change. I wondered why. I started to think about 3 strikes your out and 3rd times a charm, basically three times, and realized that when you turn 40 you've had 3 decades of self-awareness. You gain self-awareness when you are about 10 to 11 years old. Having 3 decades of self-awareness helps you see the world and life clearer. I started to think back on Moses and the Israelites being in the desert for 40 years and the flood of Noah lasting 40 days and 40 nights. I think this symbolizes the age of 40. Until then you are in the desert and/or in a storm with cloud cover from the sun/light/knowledge metaphorically.

I'm a spiritual African American woman who loves everything spiritual and esoteric. I read Tarot and honor my ancestors.. From Haiti to New Orleans..
I'm here because learning is fundamental, one can never truly learn and explore too much! All of what's being said is right up my alley.. only difference is that he's a Jewish man.. 🙏🏾💜👁️

Seeing images from the “abyss”, glimpses of pure blackness and profound and sacred water permeated by mesmerizing sparks of holy fire (and what lays beyond...) can be very fearsome... And maddening, indeed. Awesome talk, may God bless us all.

I've never seen a rabbi publicly discourse on not only Jewish mysticism, but also topics of occultism, magic, and other such topics. I am grateful for your sharing of knowledge.

Interesting, in Chinese tradition, Confucius said, "At forty, one [knows things and] would not get confused." Age 40 is significant.

This study opens the 3rd eye and spiritual awakening. Not everyone is able to see beyond the veil and remain sane. This is deep and a direction I’m going in. Thank you

Ok. The age 40 thing. I just turned 40 two months ago. Today I just finished my first book about Kabbalah, The Essential Zohar. I absolutely cannot believe how guided my studies have been the last couple of years. Thank you Solomon, for opening up the channel of wisdom I am now using. Halleluyah!

Well this documentary gave me the chills, 2 years ago I have seen in my dreams an old man who was proposing a house for me to live in, and I saw the word RECEIVE written in front of me. I never forget this dream, or as I may say a vision . Thank you for sharing the video 🙏👍🏻

I read all 23 volumes of the Zohar in 2018, and I'm just as confused and lost like I was before I read it. LMAO. It is mind blowing though and eye opening. I read like a page and take like 45 minutes just to think about and try to understand. Of course I couldn't understand anything, but I kept reading till the end because I loved it. I think I'm going to try to read it again.

i think this is charming to give those of us without a clue some introductory view, it seems like a good explanation for someone who is interested but has no idea, so i would say thank you for making this video. I am not too sure about the comments, the opportunity for others to help us understand the similiarity to other unrelated teachings like the Hindus, added eduction i think would be more helpful than many of the comments.

This profound moment also means pulling back the veil that has hidden the alien interference in planetary and human evolution. Rather than feel victimized by these events, this is the time to take 100% responsibility for the direction of your own spirit, thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This is the time to build your spiritual house and develop some energetic muscle, mental discipline and Meditation skill and stabilize our core foundation. This phase usually requires that we educate ourselves about the nature of reality, and go through a type of cosmic re-orientation process.

I don't that much about the Kabbalah but I do know that Jewish mysticism works. I did a self study of Hebrew. And later, I am now learning biblical Hebrew
with the help of "A Hebrew - English Bible" and "Hebrew Interlinear Bible (OT)". It transformed my life. For instance I stopped procrastinating,
I'm much neater and I keep my home neat and clean.
One example is that my chess score went way higher.
Before I play a game of chess now, I read a verse or two from the Tanakh and my score has been raised dramatically.
I also now take out the time to learn chess better.
The games I won and the moves I made are just too remarkable to say it's a coincidence.

Some of the remarks in this thread are astonishing mean spirited and judgmental. Let's all have humility. Did you pay to hear him? No. Did you have to listen? No. Did the Rabbi mean you any harm? No. OK then.
Thank you Rabbi.

Thank you for providing this understudy of a topic that I personally have found that I am being drawn to in my own life and that interests me not only as a scholar but as a both a parent who is a Jew but also a budding Jewish scholar. Thank you so much for providing this for us to follow in this moden life.
