We made the decision for me to stay home with our son (who has special needs). People always asked me “what I did” I would say “I’m a mom” and they responded, “I mean what’s your real job” I was made to feel less than, some family implied I was a freeloader (staying home while my husband worked). Others said I was “lucky” to stay home not knowing the many sacrifices we made and things we did without so I could stay home. I’m now 55, my son, 34 and I’m thankful my husband was willing to sacrifice so I could be a full time wife and mother. I wouldn’t change a thing.

You guys in the comments all saying that finding a woman like Mrs. Lovell is almost impossible missed a key part of the story. She (and John) were significantly different and worse people when they first got married. Finding perfect, especially when you are young, is not going to happen. Almost all relationships take years of work to get to a stage similar to where the Lovell's are.

A feminist woman marries a man and spends all their time together trying to change him. She finally does. Then complains, "You're not the man I married!" Modern feminism is toxic. Thank you, John, for your book and for all you do to lift up masculinity.

On the female shooting thing...my wife started shooting with me a few years back. We have been competing every month in a local Defensive Pistol match...and she has been winning the female division! Last month she finished mid-pack, beating out about a dozen male shooters! It took some time - and I had to learn how to teach her in a way she accepted and grew out of - but she is a BOSS now. And as proud of herself as I am of her. 😍👍
