Symptoms of Spinal Compression Fractures

Severe back pain with movement; improved pain with standing, sitting, or lying down; limited movement in spine; nerve damage; and decrease in your height are some of the symptoms of spinal compression fractures.

Dr. Brian Schiro, Interventional Radiologist with Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute, says many patients feel this pain when they are getting out of bed in the morning or when they are getting up from a chair. "That's typically what causes the majority of pain in these patients."

My doctors refuses all of this. Broke my t12-L1 at age 18. Lost a quarter inch of height. Have bladder issues. Finally at 30 they gave me disability after a decade of denial and injections. I was ready to give up. Now life is just a farce.

Edit: even cut my obterator nerve to deal with sciatica. I just wish I could be normal.

I’m getting out of the hospital today to rehab today. I have spasms too. I thought I had heart trouble a tight pressure band around my chest from mid right of my back and around. No treatment just rehab.

Had compression fractures on t4 and t8 and didn’t even know how it happened. Was having breathing problems and my lungs hurt on my backside. They were already in the healing process when found. I also was born with butterfly vertebrae on t6, which doesn’t give me any problems yet but this was shown to me by an oncologist. He showed me a picture of it and showed me how my spine from my neck to my mid back was straight, where the average person has a normal curvature to it. He was concerned that the butterfly vertebrae is about to collapse. Said that they would have to pump it with a type of cement. Gonna ask my pain management dr about it. He’s the one who installed my spinal chord stimulator and that’s about where the leads end .

Dr. Told me years ago I had a compression fracture, he never gave me any advice. It was just told to me matter of fact. I use to be 5’10 now 5’9 1/2. Sitting is the worse thing for me. I get up like I’m 100yrs old until I get moving.

I was in a car accident and went airborne at 60mph. Crushed my t12 and l1. I only spent a night in the hospital and had a brace for 6 months. They said i dont have cartilage there now. They have me taking ibuprofen and Tylenol. It doesnt help and its hard to stay moving during work and being in one position for too long. Im going to see another specialist soon hopefully. I was only 21 and have dealt with the pain for over a year and a half

I have this in my t6-t7 and t8-t9. I found out in 2012 and it's not getting better. I'm laying down and my back between my shoulders and breathing and so sick feeling that doesn't go away. Then spinal and foraminal stenosis, oseophytes, and spondylosis up and down all three segments. I'm in agony because I'm feeling worse

L1 fracture after falling on my back in the bathroom. I hope I won't need surgery for it. I'll see a specialist in 33 hours to show him the CT scan results and hell decide if surgery is needed or not

standing for any length of time causes me extreme pain. I wont sit still long though, I have 2 compression fractures, L-3 and T-12. Even after weeks, standing is very difficult for more than a few minutes at a time. My l-1 was also twisted so I think that is my biggest problem. No ;chiropractor will see me with this though. .

I had Bi lateral lung transplant, shrunk 4”, compression fractures due to prednisone which also I have osteoporosis, scoliosis, and a clavicle issue. I can’t stand walk for length of time, my legs and feet tingle, since all that nerves have hit me in such a way my stomach has slowed down. So it takes two hours longer to digest food,
I can breathe but now I’m an old man.

Is it possible that this could happen even without falling. I was leaning over a sink, and when I tried to straighten myself up, it was EXTREMELY painful. I mean, PAINFUL. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't walk. I couldn't even speak without catching my breath.

I went to urgent care and they told me they found "3 age-indeterminate compression wedge fractures".

How do they know they were already there? I dont understand.

I got a compression in my d12. After 1.5 years(no pain or discomfort) I started having anxiety attacks. And now again after one year I'm experiencing headache, dizziness and weakness in arms and legs. Could it be because of my d12 compression??
