After many sessions teaching my friend, he has successfully implemented them into his study system, and it has helped him so much!

Now it’s time to teach all of you! … ✏️

Mind maps are such a great method for encoding because it reflects the web-like structure that our brains use to store information. 🕸️

To maximize the benefits, you should be actively developing relationships amongst ideas, synthesizing, reorganizing, comparing, and applying information in new contexts. ✅

Ask yourself if your mind map is… 🎯

⁃ Prioritized : identify which information is most important to include + justify your knowledge hierarchy ⚖️

⁃ Grouped : link similar ideas together + compare with other potential groupings 🔗

⁃ Directional : consider cause & effect 🔁

⁃ Positional: move an idea up or down / left or right on the page to display a new meaning 💡

⁃ Emphasized : highlight main ideas with bold lines, bigger letters, use of colors 🚨

⁃ Simplified (very important) : make the mind map intuitive and easily readable for when you need to reference 🧠

Doing all of this will ensure you are practicing higher order thinking which will ultimately lead to both deeper comprehension + long term retention! ♥️
