The egg-knot is one of the first I was taught. We use it to tie on roe for Salmon and Steelhead fishing. Works great! Unfortunately older age and arthritis makes the knot a wee bit more difficult these days.

Tip for you young wiper-snappers: Get your self a large hook and cut the pointy-end off and remove or crimp down any barbs... This makes an excellent practice tying hook when you're sitting around or even in bed. Tie a handful of knots before you go to sleep. A little each night helps build muscle-memory.

Thank you for the video!

This dude taught me alot about fishing than any other Youtube videos.. just want to say thanks to you.
I started out catching small fishes to now catching tuna and blue marlins.

i'm no fisherman. i came here because of knot tying. you did a good job in the technique and the why.

i teach knot tying, and nobody EVER (ok, nearly nobody ever) heard about a hard knot and just decided THAT'S FOR ME!

but knots are useful and peopel who can tie knots won't ever lose a bookshelf off the top of a car on the interstate.

one of the small things I appreciate about this video is the guidance on finger work while tying these knots. If I had a video of me tying these knots with my current finger work, it might go viral lol. finger work should make me more efficient as my son is just starting so he's getting hung up on a lot of stuff and I'm tying a lot

That was instructive. All these years that I have tied off gut I have been making it harder than it needs to be. As a non-fisher I never realised that you should sacrifice six inches of line and then tying knots becomes easy enough for a child to do. I have always wasted time making knots with an inch of tail on gut and having to be patient and meticulous. I learnt something new today.

"less talking and fishing, more teaching and learning, " I never expected this from a fishing channel.

the snell knot was the first one I learned from my father thinking it was our knot (in fact I didn't even know the name), only we use it on hooks with a "flat head", always reliable (we are Italian but I don't know if the others in fact they do so) ...
I am new here and happy to have found this channel, I like the way you bring and show the topics covered from time to time👍

I realize that this video is from 2 years ago, but I have always used the first two clinch knots for fishing, I've even tied a snell knot while using hooks, but I can't tell you how appreciative I am of you showing us specifically how to tie these knots. I've been looking for different knots to use.

Twisted snell knot is my go to to making an advanced lure...I put a bullet weight through first and then a red or green line bead then a spinner spoon blade and then 3-4 more beads..then I tie that knot twist it and then feed the beads and spinner blade to the bottom..I tie a overhand knot at the top about 10 inches and the bullet weight is on top of the overhand knot, freely it can move up and down my line...spins great and treads water perfectly..pairs well with a Bobby garland baby shad in any color preferably blue ice

Learned 3rd knot from father when i was young and use it all the time, really good knot for any hook, even one without eye. Cool trick with 4th knot, definitly going to try when i forget to take metal leads :D

It’s insane how detailed this gets. I missed putting the string in the second loop on the improved clinch knot and the whole thing ended up coming loose while fishing. I had to return to this video to see what I did wrong. Thank you for this!

Knot 4 is a perfect knot for me here in southern Idaho fishing large rainbows and browns over abrasive lava rock and threading night crawlers onto hook and line!!👍
Thanks Brother!!

I have used the first one, the improved clinch knot, since I was a teenager. I am 57 now and I have NEVER had a knot slip. The number of times the line has broken at the knot I could probably count on one hand and in all of those instances it should probably have been retied. Improved clinch knot rules!

This video was an amazing refresher on knots. I always use the no-disappoint knot but instead of twisting and passing through an eye I form a simple square knot and pass the hoop over the hook and tackle and bind it. Way less steps, virtual unbreakable, and less excess to cut

That egg loop knot is insane. I'll have it down by tomorrow evening for sure though!
