Always underestimated because they look like backyard These guys are as good as gold when it comes to doing repairs. In America they would charge you an arm and a leg and a child of yours to fix or replace the item in question. Kudos to these hard workers and they should be paid more than what they normally get.

That break means it's cast iron or hardened steel. Therefore, repaired part is only maybe 40% strength.

Two things: 1) A gear is made of a solid piece of metal for a very good reason. 2) The final product had no weld marks on it. Totally different item.

Actually in Pakistan there is no local automotive industry, so new vehicle models after import duty paid 300% it becomes impossible to afford for majority of population.

So that's why still 50 to 70 years old vehicles running on the roads after few complete restorations in their lifecycle,   which becomes possible only due to such repair techniques because those vehicle models are obsolete by manufacturers and NO spare parts are available in markets.

So that's the whole story behind this creativity (or unsafe work whatever you say), but this is how things work in Pakistan, whether its transport system or political, judicial, beaurocratic, agricultural systems, all we have is still what Britishers left for us, no upgrades since last 75 years... need reforms in every sector.
Pray & support our country 🤲

Price is off but the skills are what are really off the charts here!!! Pakistanis are very talented individuals that can do a lot with such little.

It won't last long due to continuous torque requirement. A long term solution is making a new gear itself rather than damaging the other parts if this gear breaks again.

If these people came here came to the U.S. they cause a significant change in the industry. You would have so many manufacturers suffering from an over surpply of parts and shut down metal shops because of their competitors' lower repair costs. Even if prices were adjusted to take into account our economy, their prices would still be lower. As far as quality, I'd say that at the very least, would be on par. If it wasn't, they'd up their game or go under. Many metal parts come from these countries and are stamped with a domestic brand, once here.
