That is a short lived repair, it will chew itself up in no time. Wheres the case hardening and polishing of the gear teeth? You cant do that with an anhle grinder and expect it to be a long lasting repair, every time those teeth mesh with the opposing gear it will destroy not only the welded repair but the teeth on the other gear wheel.
Please stop saying that these bodge repairs are skillful or fantastic, they are a ahort term solution which brings long term bigger issues.

This is common in welding it's called bulid up welding repair normally used in repairing parts back to their originally dimensions
