This is a 3 part video that's ripping off Christopher Kovacs. There is a ton of extinct steam engines out there, and I made a list of them. This video maybe sad to most rail fans. Enjoy.

3:14 N&W 2143 also sat in the scrapyard at Roanoke. But imagine if 2174 and 2143 were preserved, then 2174 would have been preserved at The Virginian Museum of Transportation. and it would have been under restoration from 1985-1987 like 1218, and it would have been a 3 side by side with 1218 and 611. It also would have been restored from 2014-2017, and it would have been running today. And for 2174, it will be displayed at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

13:29 Imagine if the engine was longer, then the rear set of pistons wouldn't have been too close to the Firebox and causes the engine to overheat. and it wouldn't have been unsuccessful, and it would have been preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum.

10:57 Imagine If there was a 0-8-8-0 Camelback and a 2-8-8-2 Camelback preserved? Then one would be preserved at the Kentucky State Railroad Museum, and one like a 2-8-8-2 one would be running at the Strasburg Railroad today and be the strongest steam engine at the Strasburg Railroad.

4:54 Why didn't you let us expect the Niagras to survive? But that's not true, There would have been one like 5500 or a Niagra that was numbered in the 6000s. Or? There would be one rebuilt from scratch like 5500, and it won't be an extinct locomotive. It will have a Top speed of 135MPH, and it will be the fastest 4-8-4 that ever existed.

NOT SO FUN FACT: the Niagra 4-8-4’s were often confused with the Fef 4-8-4’s (one of the Fef’s are the up 844).

Okay the 3000 was cut up into two different engines but it was because it wheelsliped a lot when pulling trains So it was deemed unsuccessful

We still have the Class J 4-8-4's, the Class A 2-6-6-4's and the Class Y 2-8-8-2's
