One of the most overlooked tips: practice as often as possible. Your vision of your own art and even pixel art in general will shift into something totally different as you practice. You'll have way more patience when it comes to dealing with designing new sprites and you'll be able to correct your mistakes way faster than usual.

This was really helpful thank you! For tip 4 I like adding bulkier corners on items you can interact with so players know that’s the focus of the schene

Thank you, I always loved pixel art, I lose interest and motivation because of a bad experience with an ex friend of mine, but maybe I should try it out again.

Before you start drawing. Look at pictures of either photos or other drawings of the thing you want to draw. Just to get some inspiration and get the proportions or anatomy of the thing. Then start to visualize and start with a simple single color silhouette. Then add base colors where needed. Then start shading. And don't forget to once in a while take a look at your drawing from a distance to see how it would look in the intended resolution. Add a background and even better.

epic vid.
My only extra tip is to try a bit of regular drawing and learn a bit of painting (you don't have to do it yourself) but it'll help a lot in knowing more how colors and shading work

My tip is to actually not use a premade palette, I think its important to improve your color picking

Something to note is these are conditional. Like the outline tip. I tend to outline important things such as characters, important items, and things the payer will collide with. Background details like those acorns, clouds, flowers etc, that aren’t going to be interacted with if you are playing a game or arn’t important to be in focus on in a overall scene don’t get an outline. This helps the important stuff obvious while keeping the less important things in the background. You can also use a color other than black for the outline that matches the colors used, (such as a dark yellow for the key, a grey for the bunny, or a dark green for the tree, ) this will make it a softer edge. Speaking of which if you want something to look manufactured or mechanical having those sharp corners help. This is also good for spikes. It’s all situational and you will learn when to apply these things and when not to the more you practice.

Honestly, the main thing that I'm really struggling to grasp right now is shadows. I kind of get like lighting on an object and how to color that, but shadows are a huge struggle.
