Why INTJs Don't Succeed

Upset by failures or feel like you should have already made it in life? The truth is it takes time, INTJ.

Watch this video if you think you should be more successful than you are.

INTJs are often called the mastermind personality type. What people don't realise is how much hard work, planning, and grinding is necessary before you can truly bloom and become the best version of yourself.

People often think Elon Musk is the ideal example of an INTJ. But is he really? Musk is not an engineer or patient innovator - he's an innovations marketeer. He bought most of his inventions and ideas. He knows how to sell. He's got the charisma to get massive investors to support his ideas.

This morning I needed to hear this so badly. Been beating myself up and comparing myself with others who are successful. Lots of feelings of failure. I've had to focus all my Ni/Te on methodically becoming mentally fit enough to simply talk to people and leave the house without having panic attacks. I have been very successful with that. But not with my career. I wish I didn't have to choose between good mental health and a career, but it's hard to have the latter without the former.

When I took the MBTI test a couple of years ago (for answers to why I am so different from other people) and found out I am an INTJ I was quite confused because I saw everywhere people saying INTJs are geniuses/masterminds who succeed in life. That's certainly not me! I am 52 and I have achieved almost nothing in life. Then I saw videos like this one and they explained a lot. I'd say for an INTJ to be successful is more difficult than for many other personality types. We lack social skills. We are bad at operating the real World because we are not sensors. We are clumsy. Simple sensory overload such as loud noises or bright lights can prevent us from doing things well. I lean new things frustratingly slowly: I feel I need to put 100 hours into learning a skill other people learn in just 2 hours. I feel I need 10 lifetimes to learn the skills I need to "make it in life." I feel like the system is rigged against people like me. Other people don't see inside our heads and can't appreciate what's in there. As the most introverted personality type we INTJs are the most invisible of all and that's just one of the reasons why we don't succeed. I deeply hate the current messed up / TikTokified World of "influencers" tailored for extraverts.

ONE OF THE BEST INTJ-VIDEOS IVE SEEN! brought trears to my eyes. this intj-succes-image is very toxic. i have often doubted whether i am really an intj because i am not a workhorse in a well-paid job. the answer is simple, why i am not successful: trauma, my past... and being intelligent and having many ideas doesn't always help... you cant outsmart life.

I feel so so seen. Wow. Where do I find someone who gets this about me?!

Definitely one of the best and most grounded videos on the INTJ experience

Thank you for noting the obvious difference between INTJs and Elon Musk regarding the outward self promotion, which is so antithetical to how we operate generally

This is absolutely what I needed to hear. I always thought that thinking these things was unhealthy and so I suppressed my Ni. But whenever I have a goal and I delve into books and learning in order to achieve it and I am patient with my success. I always feel absolutely amazing about myself and life. I feel this incredibly high level of confidence I never feel in any other situation. And I also thought I was a narcissist. But I don't think I am. Because in my own little world in my head, I am a god. And I can move mountains and shape planets. I am kira. All jokes aside this is what I needed to hear. I have a bad habit of focusing too much on the end goal and not the steps to get there and I get extremely impatient with results which leads to disappointment and depression. So a good reminder for myself is to be patient and recognize that I am not suddenly going to take over the world tomorrow. It will likely be 20 years from now instead:).

Finally, a realist video. This world is made for sensors and 60% for extroverts. People aren’t perfect.

My partner (Ti-Ne) always says that everyone looks up to Elon as if he is absolutely amazing but fail to see the truth about who he is. He criticises his ideas and methods and says that so many of the things he does fail over and over again. I'd really love to see something like this for INTPS :)

As an over 40 years my motto was "Luck is where preparation meets opportunity, but remember opportunity only knocks once". Now that I am retired I use my INTJ instincts to find satisfaction in life - My insatiable curiosity leads to finding new passions, if I can identify a purpose for that passion then I give it full autonomy (resources) to pursue the purpose....and all that lead to Mastery.
