disabling half the cores of the 7950x3d will make it perform the same as the 7800x3d in gaming, and when you need the extra cores for productivity just enable them again

Just a heads up to those who are "upgrading" to 7900x3d/7950x3d/9900x/9950x. Make sure to re-install windows and install the correct chipset drivers. Otherwise, you will lose performance. Just search for "core parking" issues on these CPUs if you wanna know more.

I like the 7950x3d because it performs close to the same while allowing room for recording/streaming + extra stuff.

It is slower because, both the 7900X3D and 7950X3D (even the non X3D) have two CCDs (think of it as chips to not get too technical) inside the CPU, and one CCD is more efficient but slower and doesn't have 3D-V Cache, additionally they need to communicate between each other, and there is a latency. That's why disabling half of the cores disables one CCD and it will perform exactly as a 7800X3D

I got the 7950X3d to enhance my music productivity in my Digital Audio Workstation. I can render sound so much faster being able to use all cores.

Im glad somebody finally made this video. Still think the 7800x3d would be good enough for my productivity needs though, my 5800x handles what I want pretty good

Actually, as a 7950X3D user, if you use PBO a program like Process Lasso to lock games to only the vcache cores, you can make it match or even outperform the 7800X3D in games since it has a higher clock ceiling by 200Mhz.

This info helps a lot
Because like me, many people don't check benchmark of cpu's, only watches gpu benchmarks, and explaining "which works with what" is really educational for us.

Ryzen 9 7950x3d just arrived in the mail today, paired with a 7800xt. Excited to use them both ^^

In other words, if you can afford it, the 7950x3d is gonna be better. It's still a beast for gaming (especially 2k/4k) and much better at productivity tasks.

the 7950x3d is lowkey best of both worlds in gaming and productivity. almost as fast as a 7800x3d and way faster in workloads

AMD is suffering from success. They legit made a CPU so good that even they can't make anything better😂😂😂

This video is exactly what I was browsing for. I'm building my first setup ever and apparently the 7800X3D has gone out of stock everywhere. Its price skyrocketed and as far as I managed to find, the 7950X3D is costing about 50 bucks less. Disclaimer: I'm restricted to buying stuff of Amazon, Best Buy or Newegg due to the fact I'm from outside the US and there's the restraint of how much time I'll be spending in the US starting next week (along with the delivery estimates). I'm really pissed off that I'm gonna have to restart my research since the setup I've been perfecting for a month or so is no longer available at major retailers. F
