I love your unending hunger for nonfiction books! Honestly it's contagious, and I'm so happy about it. The book on Vodka in connection to Russian society sounds fascinating, especially because of the stereotypes surrounding alcohol/vodka drinking in Russia, but also in connection to some of the very real problems with alcohol there. If I remember correctly from some of my course lit reading years past, Russia has some of the highest numbers for alcohol consumption in the world. The book on Victorian values also sounds fantastic, and definitely in my strike zone. Looking forward to the next nonfiction haul!

I just discovered your channel and I screamed with joy! !!!! I'm a huge reader of nonfiction. Of course I subscribed. Your description of the books are awesome. Most of the books you recommended I have in my library.

Very, very interesting book haul, I am impressed! You are gonna have a great reading time this month! I would like to see some reviews of these books please, especially the historical ones. The sound of the red famine sock me every time, the humankind at his "best" ones more...

I have another Sargent book (plus intrigued by Strapless) on my TBR although I probably won’t get to it this Nov...love art history stories and ran into Sargent in the The Art Forger which I read his year. he has the iconic painting hanging in the Boston MFA of sisters that I’ve loved since I was little. Can’t wait for Nov!

I love that you love nonfiction books. It seems to be a rare thing. (At least in my experience.) I know people that read things like Christian devotionals and theology books, but other types of nonfiction, I can't think of one person.

Right now I am reading "Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found." It's a good look at a very difficult place to live. It makes me thankful to live in America. It may not be perfect, but it's nothing like this. I think next I would love to read, "A Long Way Home: A Memoir." It is about a little boy who gets lost and separated from his family in Bombay. Even though he ends up being adopted by a wonderful, loving family, his heart aches to know the fate of his family. I recently saw the movie based on it, "Lion. I don't think the first book I mentioned will have much of a happy ending. I need something to give me some hope for these people who live in a place where there is so little of it. For as much as we can complain about our lives, most of us have no idea what it must be like to suffer in this way.

As always, some in here that I have written down and will be getting my grubby mitts on at a later date! I can't wait to participate in Nonfiction November because I appear to be eating nonfiction at the moment.

Speaking of, I'm about halfway through Everyday Sexism and it is an amazing read but holy crap it's so difficult. I keep having to put it down because I'm like that is a sucky piece of humanity right there.

Finally, you look so cheery in this haul that it has made me all cheery, too, which I needed! So thanks. 💗🙌🏼

The Duchess is amazing!<3 It made me fall in completely in love Georgiana! Luckily, I live about 30 minutes away from Chatsworth House, where she lived with William Cavendish and seeing the place made me feel even more connected to her! She had such a difficult life and was such a resilient, strong and progressive woman <3 The film is on Netflix too :) I really hope you enjoy it!

What an interesting haul! I suppose you won't read all that, but I would be really interested about hearing what you think about some of those historical books, especially those about Russia since you'll be able to judge of their validity.
I don't know how much non-fiction books I'll read for this event, but my main pick is Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay, that I wanted to read since a while and it seems like a perfect time to get to it.

I read King Kaiser Tsar and Georgiana and would recommend both - on my TBR I recently picked up Privilege and Scandal by Janet Gleeson which is about Georgiana’s sister Harriet and Princes at War by Deborah Cadbury. I hope to get to them soon. Thank you for all the great recommendations-quick question if TN2 is your favorite Tsar-what are your thoughts on Alexandra?
