Appreciate it🙏, been going on some depressive chains recently. Have been diagnosed with BPD, Recently broke up from a long term relationship with a person I loved tremendously and am going to have to give a very important exam soon which I can't bring myself to study for because of how exhaustive everything feels.

Dr. FOX, you are so right on. You gave me a light bulb moment. Since my sister died in Oct last year, I find my thoughts going to those I've lost in my life a lot lately. I now see the sadness chain you mentioned. Thanks for the reminder on how to overcome this. I can do this. I've come along way baby!

I started doing a gratitude journal and find it helpful- even if it's just little things.

Great reminder about the Depression Chains. At first this caught my eye because I thought it was about trains. 🚂🚂🚂 But, oh!, it's about CHAINS. Yes, breaking the cycle is important and that is why I continually work on my chronological life recovery autobiography diary scrapbook. I record and process the tough stuff but I also collect and appreciate the happy memories, too. I just added a letter from when I got kicked out of a church and accused of faking mental illness and that is sandwiched between a memory of a great job I loved and a neuropsych eval that supported my claims of stress and distraction. Long chain construction gets prevented by this DIY therapy, as I experience it.

Yes it's true "family in the head" I have four cats & that's my family. If I start ruminating then I'm lost because the past, we can't change. My family are all deceased. I'm the first born & the last to go...at 65 I live with major chronic pain/mobility issues. I try to help myself with special leg exercises that a specialist showed me (for balance & muscle strength). Every 2nd day I must do a series. I also live with bpd & only had therapy for 6 to 8 weeks. I've been dealing with this all my life. I don't crave sweets as such- but I'll keep it in mind!!! Dark chocolate is supposed to be the best. Also have some marzipan (Germany) leftover I guess from xmas. Thanks 🙏❤️🌹🇨🇦. PS DR FOX HOW IS IT THAT YOU'RE IN A T SHIRT? WE'RE IN MINUS DOUBLE DIGITS HERE IN QUEBEC, CANADA!! Our winter should be fading away pretty soon. End May is traditionally gardening season. Hope it's better than last year!

I think it's important to connect the root cause of the intense sad reaction. It rarely is that one thing but what it symbolizes to you. Depression isa counterprofuctive term that lends itself to pharmacological "treatment" imo.

This couldn't have come at a better time. i am cureently going through a very depressive chain where i'm also contemplating some.. things. i'm very tired, i'm angry, i very frustrated also i'm scared because of the thoughts that i'm having. i've shut my family away and shut myself off in my room. i'll probably go get a chocolate... i need help, but... that's not gonna happen. So, maybe i'll keep repeating a few good things i have.. and have a chocolate...
