it's against your will and usually triggered when you feel unsafe or overwhelmed, stress. Hours can go by and your body is there but your mind shuts down. You have trouble remembering. Feels like a dream or like you are a zombie.

Now I started disassociateing because nowadays there's more arguments and drama going around that there is no point. And all these questions are just like okay not going to answer because there is no point on making a huge problem out of

Ive always been confused on what disassociation actually is. Is it when all of a sudden you are staring off into space ignoring the world around you and silencing all thought
, while not realising you are doing it?

Hi when I went into a mental hospital against my will which now I found out to was due to early perimenopause combined with autism, I had frequent episodes of dissociation which the staff had no clue what I was experiencing. Is that normal for staff working in inpatient not to know what dissociation is? I was triggered just from a change in routine and not being allowed to eat my normal foods to the point I couldn't eat when I was there the whole three weeks. I had times where I would curl u on the floor and was in my own world to the point if people talked to me I didn't hear them but was shouted at when I came round as they thought I could hear them. Later when I did things they didn't want me to do I was told they had already told me things but I had no recognition of what they had said. Is this normal because I honestly got told off for thing they said they had told me but I really had no clue what they were talking about.

That one thought... It'll tick in my chest like a time bomb. Till that last tick and them boom. I went numb in my chest. I couldn't stop it, I wanted to feel. But I couldn't. I am working on it. Awareness is the first step and im glad to know that I am not alone, neither are you. You may not have to express yourself but I will so you know you're not alone. You're loved. Try and talk to someone about it, seek healthy help and healthy coping skill. You aren't alone.

I genuinely need some assistance. This is all brand new knowledge to me.
Can one have a chronic/ consistent experience of derealisation? (am 32 yr F a few months into ADHD journey, incl meds)

Is it possible for someone to be experiencing reality for the first time? Atleast glimpses. It's terrifying.
