My trauma response is freeze and it's the absolute worst because everyone's like "Why didn't do/say anything?"
I think people can rationalise fight/flight, whereas freeze comes across as a non-response, which leads to a lot of judgement and often makes you look weak to others

I am a survivor of abuse and diagnosed with PTSD. For years prior to therapy, I would disassociate and lose entire weekends, or several days during the work week to come out of it with no memory or knowledge of what happened during disassociation. It was frightening as there were times I returned to reality to find myself in unsafe situations. After years of therapy, I now only disassociate for a few hours. If I realize it's happening, I hold ice in both hands to help keep me grounded in reality. Best wishes and hugs to others that disassociate. Find a great therapist and do the hard work of overcoming your past.

Thank you for bringing this to light. It’s so important to acknowledge that sometimes all I can do is focus on the basics. Drink water, eat, take meds, rest, alert support team, do what I can.

My kids will look at me when it happens and say "Hello is anybody their? Mom?" I sometimes can quickly snap out of it but not all the time.

Our Brain tries to protect Us! Just like with depression. When you are so sick, it's your brain saying "Pay Attention. You feel this way because there is something wrong in your life. Please take care of yourself better. Then, slowly you will feel better."
