Another fact about Misawa's death: 2 years before his death he wrote a letter to be handed to whoever ended his life in the ring so he likely expected that he would die in the ring at some point. Saito(the one who did the move) still carries the letter to this day.

The “why you never became a dancer” video was one of the the first videos that legitimately disturbed me, and now I don’t feel disturbed as much as I feel sad that, not only did such a horrific crime happen, but that the victims legacy is now being part of such a creepy video

An important aspect of Misawa's passing is his style of wrestling. The King's Road style, which he pioneered, was particularly dangerous even for Japanese pro wrestling which is already harder than most other styles. King's Road involved a lot of dropping guys on their heads or back of their necks. So the move that killed him was probably done as usual, it was just Misawa's spine was probably already weakened from taking such moves for over a decade.

The "Why you never became a dancer" story is honestly kind of disgusting. The idea that somebody took a photo used to report on a woman's murder and then turned it into a weird creepypasta like music video using tech to make them sing is just awful. Anyways great video as always!

It's wild to me that Yume Nikki had its 20th anniversary just the other day. Was obsessed with it about 15 years ago, struck a lot of chords for me. Despite watching both Kanon and Air when they were new and popular (in the fansub scene at least), I'm very surprised I've never heard of the "cruel" versions. And I'm kinda glad. Those were both some serious tearjerkers so seeing guro of those characters would have absolutely broken my mind at the time

The Zoom In broadcast sounds like it's most likely mandela effect considering the footage that was retrieved. It also makes sense if the people who saw it were young when they did, as our brains tend to make scary things seem so much worse as children

That Dero Escape show being cancelled is the exact same phenomenon that saw sale of the game Jenga drop off the face of the earth in the US between like 2001-2007. No one wanted to play a game that’s about knocking pieces of a tower out to watch it collapse.

So, that cruel Air thread was made by a user called melonc0la. A VN historian. they went on to post this on twitter. Also a dick move to not credit them and crop the thread out.

-there are a lot of false rumors about yuugao (being said to be the “cruel Kanon” many people said it contained a lot of gore, but the actual game has none)

regarding the "lost student footage" it may be a instance of horribly misplaced context. Technically, all the text says is the teacher (and her) came (as two people). she theoretically could have just meant "my teacher and i came to the waterfall together" especially if she is ignorant of any other connotations it may have.

i think what gets to me about "me and my teacher" and "never became a dancer" is being made a meme over something *horrible* happening to you*. even if acidblood or whoever wasn't "trying to" make fun of miss reiko, they wouldn't have been able to find and use her picture if she wasn't a murder victim in the first place

*(or allegedly, in the case of "teacher"; until the clip itself is found we won't know if the girl actually said that or if she was being harmed. but her face and that quote being a meme is the same idea)

The Zoom-In footage at the end reminds me of just how extremely graphic late Showa/early Heisei TV broadcasts used to be. You'll never seen again stuff like police in the middle of dragging up from the water a drowned corpse like that anymore, even blood is almost entirely absent from Japanese reports nowadays.
