This video explains how to calculate buildings loads from a floor build-up.

Afterwards I explain the process on how I perform simple load takedown and show a real life example at the end.

Hope you enjoy and find this useful!

THIS IS PURELY A GIFT FROM YOUR FOR ALL CIVIL ENGINEERS, THIS HELP THEM TO GET BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE STRUCTURE AND MAKE CALCULATIONS EASIER FOR THEM . I REWATCHED IT MANY TIMES, I HAVE TO APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORT BEHIND THIS VIDEO, IT MUST HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF HARD WORK, PRECISION AND CARE TO PRODUCE SUCH HIGH QUALITY CONTENT

Hi Everyday Dazz. I'm a huge fan of your channel and the information you've share. I'm a Structural Engineering Student from South Africa, and I'd like to grow professional profile by taking on personal projects and i'd like to focus on residential homes. I have had some experience in designing of structures, but not enough of me to get a full understanding of load take-down if a double story residential home, especially if I'm determining load take-down using an architectural house plan. Could you make a video of such an example in the future if you have any examples and approaches you are able to share? I think this would greatly broaden our understanding, and give us the confidence we would need to take on bigger projects as graduates. Thanks

you have made a small mistake mate, you put 0.006 x 22 = 1.65Kn/m^2 it should be 0.075 x 22= 1.65Kn/m^2 great video keep up the work can you please do a video on wind load calculation inaccordacne to eurcodes.

Amazing work Dazz. I watched this video and constructed my own spreadsheet. I would really like to know how you calculated the foundation, raft, and reinforcement using the real-life example.

This is so helpful thank you! Could you do a video on how to do a load takedown spreadsheet?

Hey mate really good video! I’m in Australia and finishing up my degree in engineering next year. Just wondering if you’ve done a video / would consider doing a video on how to make the spreadsheets for design. Cheers mate

can you do a video on how to size beams and supports using the calculated loads?

Great content, could you do a load run down for a corner column and show how you determine moments about both axis?

Could you do a load bearing takedown of a solid slab

Hello Dazz million time thxx for the videos... learnt alot from u. I have a question about trib area on 7.52 min ( 4.75m. Why not 4.75 m^2) could u explain. Cheers

Thank you very much. I wish to know if it is necessary to take live load reductions into account ?

I am confused on one thing, when he did the Area load for the Timber joists, the 2.5 for the number of joists, how is this m/m2 ??? This is important to get the final answer in kN/m2 but I can't seem to see how 1000/400 is m/m2? Thanks,

Kindly share how to draw this excel sheet and techniques to work efficiently

Could you explain why when calculating the Trib area you divide 5.5/2, where is the two coming from?

im curious. for the deadload do we not need to count beam and column self weight ?

Lets say your soil bearing capacity is like 75kpa and you calculated the line load in kn/m. How do you do the calculation to know if it is satisfactory?
