Negotiating medical bills can be done, but it requires due diligence starting before your procedure, and after you receive the final hospital bill.

There's even a way to find out how much your procedure will cost before you get it done.

When you receive the medical bill, if you are so many percent below the income level, you can call your hospital and ask if there's any programs you can apply to for them to pay the bill or help pay the bill.

If you can pay the bill in full, you can call the hospital and ask if they can discount the amount if you pay it in full rather than set up payments. I've heard you can get up to 30 percent off the bill if you can pay it in full. You can call back and ask multiple people or ask whom you can talk with to reduce the amount.

If all else doesn't work, you can ask to make payments and see if they can accept a monthly payment that you can easily afford. Then always make that payment to not go to collections.

Then if you do go to collections it's already been written off and bought so find out online what that procedure is because of Hippa rules the third party cannot acess your private healthcare information. And you must ask for the detailed copy with your signature and not a copy ect.

I think its unlawful to be the only business that does not have to tell you the cost of what your buying up front before you buy it! Even asking they wont be able to tell you, if any you will only get a "range"... and is the only business where the "CASH" buyers pay the MOST.and usually 3-10X as much as an insurance will How is this all legal? lol .... Thats why I tell ppl even if you have ANY Insurance, even with NOTHING covered or huge deductibles., as just the "Insured discount" is worth its weight in gold, even if they never cover a dang thing!!

If you’re practically on your deathbed from covid, and there are a multitude of Doctors, Infectious Disease Specialists, Pulmonologists etc…you’re fighting for your life and they are IV’s in your arm 24/7 round the clock, blood work drawn daily, x-rays daily, Ct scans continuously, all these services for months and then rehab…do you think you can pin point all of these charges, on a ginormous bill? Never happen!

I purchased new insurance to have spine surgery. The hospital said they confirmed with my insurance that the surgery was a go. Now after surgery I got a denial from insurance refusing to paid at all cause they don’t cover preexisting conditions for the first year. Now I am stuck with a bill of $128, 000. I have 2 insurances. I had a drs appointment 1 year ago. They billed my primary, got a payment, and then billed the balance to me instead of my secondary insurance. I called and told them to bill the balance to my secondary. They never did. And I didn’t receive another bill. Now, 11 months later they sent me the same bill. If they would of billed my secondary I wouldn’t owe anything. But now that it’s been over 6 months my secondary won’t pay. What are my options?
