Thanks for the look at FS24. I'm totally looking forward to flying the hot air balloon over the autumn foliage, at low altitude, the way I have done in real life, when I served as a balloon crew member during an airshow in the 90s. This looks fantastic! :)

You should set DLSS to Quality and not Auto. And the "Dynamic settings" to a lower fps like 60. That will make the game throw better details, insted of dialing it down, to reach a higher fps.

First of all a youtuber last night was flying 2024 alpha in me area of Vancouver and one airport was missing a run way and another airport had tooo many trees . their settings were ultra. aotherwise another Spot on Video Thank You

there is a couple of commands that allow you to change the speed of free flight (drone). I have them assigned to hat on my Warthog throttle. Another Reset command is for to reset the free flight back to your plane and I put that onto the same hat.

I eventually caved in and downloaded it. For an alpha build I was really impressed with it. The graphics are definitely an improvement on 2020. I love how all the transitions between screens are so much smoother. And the loading times are insanely fast (although I'm sure these will get longer over time as more content and addons are installed). The sim defaulted me to Ultra settings (I enabled frame gen too) and I was getting frame rates over 100 when flying around Dublin (on a 4070Ti Super 16GB VRAM).

I also had a couple of CTDs but I'm not worried about that just yet. And the quick loading time makes it a lot more bearable lol.

My biggest disappointment was that all my peripherals were unmapped. In 2020 when you add a new peripheral is will automatically add common assignments, such as rudder, ailerons and elevator. I found I had to manually map all these, and even then it was very sensitive. I probably need to play about with it a bit more to get it right. But I'm sure the final release will come with all of this fixed.

Another thing that annoyed me in career mode was that it told me to use Ctrl+E to start the engines. Seriously? I was hoping we'd get a full lesson on how to start the aircraft. Not a biggie, but I thought that was a bit naff lol

But all in all I had a lot of fun with it and I'm really looking forward to the full release.

Thanks for the fps (msi afterburner) advice. It's much less cumbersome than the msfs developer version. I noticed your fps using your new pc was much higher than me and I have a 4070ti super gps. Anyway, using the msi counter my fps now shows 130 whereas it was 40-50 with the developer version. I wonder which one is right??

Something I just spotted.. 2024 is using DLSS 2.4.12.0 not the current 3.7.20.0. DLSS swapper tool will enable the upgrade.

A cautionary tale for current and prospective Mata Quest headset owners:

I'm on day 6 of Meta holding my Quest headsets hostage. I've been using Oculus/Quest devices from the day they started making them (10 years ago?), and have not been required to give my date of birth to Meta in all this time. But they recently demanded my DOB under threat of disabling my Quests, and they made good on that threat 6 days ago. Meta can metaphorically brick your headsets, any time they want, any for any reason they want, and you will have no defense against it.

Conclusion: don't BUY anything from Meta, ever. The thing you BUY will not be yours.

Ok Grand Canyon is stunning, Grand Teton too ....but the rest of the world? I have seen some rewiew and... there are seasons but seems that is only on trees and not on ground. Am I right? I will wait a lot even because I will need a new computer to run MSFS 2024 ...and also a very good and expensive one. Many new things but the aircraft behaviohr seems to be the same old one and not so fluid like in RL.
