“Mija” is one of the most beautiful words to ever exist. Such a precious term of endearment ❤❤❤ IYKYK

I wore gloss in high school, and occasionally blush mascara.
Other than that, I wore a bit more later, My Mom when I was a teenager did teach me about skin care, and how it changes every so many years. To this day...with Mom in heaven ..I still appreciate that she did that.
Oh and eye shadow was big back in the day in high school...❤

Thank you for sharing this
My grandmother raised me and I can remember being just tall enough when I stood beside her while she sat at her vanity to see the big mirror and all of her makeup laid out and all of the glass perfume bottles. She taught me how to apply lipstick and when I was 10 we went through her collection and she gave me a shoe box full she smiled and said" there you go honey some goodies for you to experiment with"
I've loved the calming feeling I get from creating with makeup every since
I adore your channel Lisa!😊😊😊❤❤

Yes! My grandma too! She had great skin and hardly many wrinkles- skincare #1 and she never left the house without her pink lipstick! 💕 I loved the Vintage tin lip licking lip balms. I had so many of those in my childhood! ❤💕❤️💕

Yes! Every weekend I would go to Gibson’s and gaze at the wall of makeup. I was in middle school. Maybelline had a single eyeshadow, I think it was called Pink Ice…in a plastic rectangle container. The color was a frosty light pink and I absolutely HAD TO HAVE IT. I bought it and wore it ALL THE TIME. I thought it was so pretty and grown up. I put it in all my small beaded purses everywhere I went. To this day I can remember exactly what it looked like.❤️

I never grew up with any of the women in my life loving the whole makeup experience, my only memory is from my cousin who was a Makeup Artist and taught me how to apply makeup but I was still only a young girl and didn’t get really into makeup till I started watching YouTube videos, like yours Lisa, I was very very late to the makeup world. Now I have way too much that I don’t even wear most days. ❤️❤️❤️

I remember my grandmother and my mother and their makeup! I couldn’t wait! I got my first full set of makeup in seventh grade- Mary Kay - for Christmas! I was so excited! The thrill hasn’t stopped! The joy of feeling put together, the fun of discovering something new, the bonding with the women in our lives. We always called it putting on our face, too! ❤

I grew up with ladies that loved makeup and shopping was a pleasure and a chance to get together and have some laughs ❤

Mija!! ❤ it!! That is your Latina blood!!

I remember my mom having the “pink tray”. It was all of the Mary Kay skin care products. My mom wore very natural make up but her face was flawless due to the skincare. ❤️

My story is just like yours. My Grandmother - Joy used to wear an Orange/Coral tone and a tube was placed in her home at various points so she never went without it even when sitting down to dinner. I always did my friends makeup in school and in my final school year Clinique employed me to work at their counter in a department store. I only afforded myself makeup artistery studies in my early 30s and finally graduated at 34 with a certification of makeup artistery and design. I did quite a bit for 2 years but after that it became impossible for me to earn a proper living as a makeup artist in South africa and when I went through a divorce I had to give up my dream and go and get a full time corporate job to support myself. I permanently write to people that are influential in this country and have never given up my passion for the art. Hopefully one day I will catch a lucky break and get to go back to what I love. In college they used to say " she was born with it" when talking about me - I guess it came very naturally for me.

It warms my heart to hear someone else share their fondest memories that stood out with their grandmother 🥰. My grandmother possessed 2 incredible talents, and those were being an extraordinary cook, and was the epitome of being a lady, never to leave her house w/out makeup, ESPECIALLY her fire engine red lipstick 💄 💖!
I became a professional pastry chef & chef bcuz of her, but I’m blessed to have her passions, and will admit I’ve got a makeup collection that rivals most beauty influencers 😁👍!!
Thank you so much Lisa for reminding me at 58 how impactful our grandmothers were to us 🙏♥️❤️❣️!!

Love “grandma memories”. Mine is my grandma’s perfume, Tigress.

FYI, from one “mija” to another, it’s actually, “mi hija” ☺️

At a Clinque counter in a mall in the 80’s!
A nice lady applied all the makeup and recommended colors that looked best on me. No push to buy so my dad bought it all!❤❤❤❤❤

My earliest memory is from when I was 4 YO back in 1969 and my grandmother stood infront of the bathroom mirror, took her red lipstick - it was a bullet lipstick with a push up button, not like now screw mechanism - and carefully applied it with a lipstick brush. It had a golden casing, think it was Dior. She got it as a gift from Paris and used it only for special occassions. She kept the casing even after it was all finished.
She said while applying
"a strong and brave woman dares to wear red lipstick' and applied what was left on the brush on mine tiny lips.
That set the ground for my good self asteem, self respect and confidence. I am now 58 YO and love my red lipsticks. 💄

My earliest memories with makeup - (1) My mom sold Vivienne Woodard Cosmetics door to door in the 1960's. I loved playing with the samples! (2) She followed that up by selling Avon door to door. It;'s always been a calming, creative thing! In my mom's words "MAKEUP CHEERS YOU UP" (even in hard times!). It's an easy way to update your look :-)

My grandma wore red lipstick too.
My mom took me to the Clinique counter to get skincare. She surprised me with make up too! I was 14. My first tube of lipstick was Black Honey. I have worn it ever since. It was the early 80’s.

I didn’t have any of the memories growing up. I was from a farm family. (Which is totally fine). So now I play like a kid with all the girl things! ❤
