I think about research the same way! Maybe it's a humanities thing, but I'm not sure the idea of "filling a gap" works for a lot of us. A lot of the times I'm just contributing to the conversation by relating two theories or concepts together which have never been put together before, or I'm analyzing something from a different lens... When I compare myself with ppl in the social sciences and STEM I get such imposter syndrome because of what "doing research" means for me... Lol
