This fixed my surging problem. Whether or not it was necessary, I removed the carb and gave it a full cleaning thru all ports with carb cleaner but also ran a very small pipe cleaner brush in and out of all the ports and used a few mild blasts of compressed air to complete the trifecta. Salamat Po Val. Mahal kita!

Haha... A couple of weeks ago, my HRN 216 started doing exactly this, so I researched this issue and found Ed & Val's excellent solution video and decided first to try the lazy man's approach and try a carburetor cleaning additive first, so I reviewed the various offerings at Home Depot and settled for this product: Star Tron 8 oz. Gasoline Fuel Treatment by Starbrite. I poured in the recommended 1 capful per gallon amount, let it sit for a few days, then gave it a try. Nope. Exact same surge while cutting the entire line. Just today, I came back to this video, reviewed it and was all set to perform Val's technique, when, wouldn't you know it... no more surging when testing the idle first. Hmm. Ahhhh... the additive MUST flow through the carburetor, then sit for a bit before it de-clogs it. Remember that! The instructions for the additive suggests adding that 1 capful at each fill to avoid surging. At that rate, the 8 oz bottle will treat 48 gallons. Even though my problem was solved without employing Val's technique, I commend Ed & Val for sharing, such a fun and informative video. Val conducts the HRN 216 Surge Orchestra like no other. 😍
