One of the last things I expected when I started watching this video was you doing a fashion show while drinking from the skulls of your enemies. But I'm here for it!

I’ve done the Sunday sweater a few times and get tons of compliments. I appreciate PETIT KNITS aesthetic. I have a few of her patterns and they always work out well. I come from a few creative businesses backgrounds and to people who complain that it’s nothing new. It’s really hard to be 100% new new…. It’s really really hard. She may be reinventing the wheel but it’s a lovely wheel! She has attracted lots of new knitters to the craft and the designs are accessible. If you don’t like a designers work - knit something else. I may or may not knit the no frills but I love to hear how much love there is for it!

I have been knitting for over 10 years and have always knitted bottom up (mostly Japanese patterns). I knitted my first top down sweater in 2023, which is the No Frills sweater by Petite Knit. It’s easy to knit and gave me a good idea of the structure of a raglan sweater. I’m still wearing it and it’s v cozy. I’m knitting a lot more top down sweaters since then, different structures. It’s definitely a good pattern for beginner knitters.

I love pattern review videos! As a cautious knitter, it helps to hear a view on the pattern from someone more experienced. I also love how honest you are and that you come across as trying to be fair and open. ❤Thank you so much!

I actually knit the No Frills sweater a year ago because you spoke so highly of it and I absolutely love it. I wouldn't have thought it, only looking at the pictures, but the proportions are exactly right, it looks elegant but also relaxed. I might need to knit another one...

Thank you for addressing yarn substitution for those of us who can’t wear mohair. You’ve convinced me to take the plunge on the No Frills for my first sweater.🙏🏻💕

I haven't knit the No Frills, but, if I were going to knit a basic stockinette raglan design, I'd go with the Cozy Classic Raglan by Jessie Maed. It's got that same classic minimalist design that works with everything, but it's more size inclusive (which is also represented in the sample photos on Ravelry). She gives plenty of links to the video tutorials you might want for the techniques in the sweater. She has tons of customization options in the pattern for fit and style, including advice on how to do a fade. And she gives tons of yarn options, including a bunch of budget-friendly ones (also, I think the looser gauge lends itself to more options; I could hit the 18st gauge with a worsted weight yarn and not have a fabric that's too tight). The pattern is a good value for beginners who want to keep it simple and experienced knitters who want all the options to choose from.

I appreciate your thoughts on this pattern. I would say that compliments will also be given on your sweater because your colourway and yarn choice is stunning. What I find with this pattern and others that are knit with two yarns combined is that they are not accessible to some due to cost. I know you mentioned about substitution and using only one yarn and I think that is where if you use Raverly it is a good place to start to find makers who have done that and the yarn they have used.

I must request more “fit checks” by Tayler. Probably one of my favorite bits that you have done!
