Great, last week you convinced me to do the no frills (even got the yarn the same day!) and now I want the felix too 😂

30 year knitta here🙋🏼‍♀️🧶. I have knit both sweaters and your assessments are spot-on. I LOVE my No-Frills as my comfy “boyfriend sweater” on weekends and for more casual wear. My Felix is work-appropriate and is also beloved. They are beloved for different reasons. I found the No-Frills to be a meditative and easy knit, too. I did not find it took overly long to make, either.

A great pattern that kind of splits the features between these two is the Lento sweater. It's simple like the No Frills, but at the size 10 (6mm) needle so its a quick knit.

Hi Tayler. I loved the comparison of the two sweaters. I have knit them both. I knit my No Frills sweater in Rowan Felted Tweed. So I got the look of mohair or the fuzz without having to hold two yarns together. It is a great sweater and I need to make another one. I made the Felix Sweater in a dark navy worsted wt 2 ply yarn paired with some cashmere lace wt almost a boucle (slightly variegated with navy and dark brown). The pairing was really beautiful. I had a harder time picking a size for the Felix. And somewhere along the way my gauge in the sweater was different than my swatch of somehow I just counted my gauge wrong. So my Felix turned out too big. I did find that those eyelets took some serious concentration. I think I would love the Felix if it fit better. I even put the sweater in the dryer for a few short episodes which helped a bit. That sweater is heavy. I should try it again and pay better attention to the gauge. That is the first time that has happened to me. Maybe it was a problem with the phase of the moon. Ha! Ha! I also want to try the Lento for comparison.

With all your guidance and endless tips I have knitted the Felix Sweater and the best part is you said the Felix sweater was more of an intermediate knit! Now I am very chuffed and feel I could knit anything after your tips and tricks. Thankyou for helping us to improve our knitting! Keep making these videos, there are us who would be lost without you. ❤

I 100% agree that the Felix pullover is an intermediate pattern. I knit one this year as a Christmas gift and had to tear it out 3 times before i finally “got” it…it took me awhile to really see it the way i needed to and to get the lace detail lined up right and i am an experienced knitter. Im so glad i persevered because I now have yarn to make myself and my daughter one as well. Your points on it are spot on. Ive not knit the No Frills but have dived into the Petite knit pool for other projects!

Whoa! There I am in my orange Felix!!! I was making banana pancakes and had your episode playing, looked up and noticed "That's me!". The Felix is a favourite of mine and have knit it 3 times. Simple details, great shape and can be styled countless ways. Great summary of these two sweater designs!

I am late to comment as I've been away and am just catching up. I loved this video! I've knit Felix and have No Frills in my queue thanks to your comments. I completely agree about the challenges with lining up the eyelets on Felix, even as an experienced knitter. Regarding the finished look, a few weeks ago I was wearing my Felix in a pub and someone approached me to say that they loved my sweater. They were very surprised that I had made it myself! It was pretty fun.

I like the No Frills sweater more than the Felix, more my style.I really appreciated this video, it actually helped me decide to take the Felix off my wish list as pretty as it is. Thank you🥰!

Because of you, last year, I have knitted a Felix cardigan, and jumper. You are right about the eyelets, though... Once again, because of you, I will probably knit another jumper ❤

I was heavily leaning towards the Felix, but haven't done short rows, or a raglan yet, so when you said this is both at once and might cause frustration 😂 it went way back on the far burner for me. I might actually do a no frills as a knit-while-I-do-other-things project that I can whittle away at slowly, 😊 and have a beautiful garment in the end. ❤

This was good info and most importantly you talk at the perfect speed and I am really thankful for that lol

Thanks for this! I had commented on the No Frills video (Sounds like I wasn’t the only one!) about which one you liked better, or what were the differences were, and was so excited to see this come up today! I think I am leaning towards the Felix. I might get a chance to wear it this winter as it’s faster!😊

This is just the video I needed because I have been looking at both of these to knit

As a beginner sweater knitter (working on my first), it is good to know about the complications for a new sweater knitter for the Felix. I’ve had it and No Frills in my Favorites for a while. I’m knitting the free Flax sweater pattern now (Tin Can Knits) which is a good beginner sweater BTW. And now that I’ve customized it to fit me (by taking Nerdy Knitting’s ‘Knits that Fit’ class), I can just swap out the Flax sleeve garter stitch panels for a column of lace or try a No Frills much more easily than handling Felix just yet. Thanks for the input to my decision for my next sweater.

Thank you so much for doing this topic! It really helped. So now I will be knitting both of them. I have yarn for the Felix so I will make it without the lace. I’ll check out your link about that. The next one will be No Frills! Love your help. Thank you so much. Love that you take into consideration our ideas on topics!!

Greetings from frigid Laval Québec Canada,

I've made two Felix so far and I know that more are in my knitting future. I made the first one with Drops Air and it took a week. The second one was knit pairing two teal colored yarns...the Noro Silk Garden Solo Sock (Sport) and the Mailles à Part Nuage d'Alpaca Suri (Lace - But Fluffy!) and this one took 4 days. I wore it last Friday when I went shopping for fabric with a man's oversized BlackWatch Shirt under it and the girls working at the store were just gushing over it...nice for the ego! I considered making a No Frills with some La Bien Aimée Merino Singles I got on sale (40% off!) and pairing it with the Biche et Bûche Le Petit Silk Mohair I already had but I decided against it and chose "This is not a Sweatshirt" by Pernille Larsen instead. It's basically "the same thing but different" and I really love it. It lets the yarn shine with no distractions from design elements in it. I wear it all the time and would probably take it to bed if not for my hot flashes!

Both patterns are sooo lovely, and I do agree with you that the YOs augm in the Félix are a bit fiddly and require sustained attention...which I sadly lack (thank you, menopause!). Consequently, I also, have "original designs" in my raglan eyelets and I can live with that very well, it's what makes my Félix...my Félix!

Thank you for talking about those two patterns and taking the time to make this in-depth comparison between both. It was very much appreciated.

Really great explanation. Just finished the Mellow Mood sweater and her design incorporates an innovative approach to short rows which I’ll definitely be using on future projects. Really easy knit with beautiful details. Also, you might like the Blossoms sweater as it is slightly cropped with a lacey yoke detail. I repeated the lace pattern on the sleeves which looks lovely. Hope you check these out Taylor. I think you’ll love the surprises each offers. Happy knitting and thanks for all your continuing information and guidance. 🎉
