You're absolutely right. Some people are just caught up in outdated training modalities. Tbh, I think its an even bigger problem in boxing/Muay Thai and even MMA. Not to say that you can't excel in those sports without lifting weights, of course you can. But you're depriving yourself of a potentially very useful tool.

Exactly if you look up how to jump higher it’s most likely a guy saying stop skipping plyo and he is also has weights which is why most of soccer players including me uses weight to use the strength in a match to score pass and dribble and sometimes headers

Most sports are multidisciplinary, so you need to train different aspects of physical preparation at same time, as an example, I am amateur boxer, I need, resistance, speed and strength, in this order, I need more resistance than speed, more speed than strength, but as an athlete I still need strength, gonna train that 3× a week, do explosive training, 2x a week, beside the 5 or 6 boxing sessions, were I'm gonna work resistance, explosiveness, and technique.
