Allergic to your Smart Watch?!

Показать описание
Contact dermatitis is a reaction in the skin caused by direct contact with an external factor,

Most of the rashes that we see from watches are the result of irritation, as sweat, oil, and dirt build-up under the watch and get trapped against the skin

Direct friction of the watchband against your wrist can also lead to irritation depending on the watch band. To help prevent this, keep the watch and your skin clean and dry, and wear the watch slightly loose on your wrist so that it doesn't put too much pressure on your skin.

If you develop a rash, the first thing to do is take the watch off so that your skin can recover, "You can apply a fragrance-free ointment to help repair the skin barrier like vanicream HC, which has one-percent hydrocortisone. Vanicream HC can help with itchiness but shouldn't get used on the area for longer than two weeks in a row. If you don't see any improvement, see a derm! While most watch rashes result from irritation, there are some cases where the person has a true allergy, depending on the type of watch band or if you are sensitive to certain metals. Allergy testing, known as patch testing, may be appropriate to determine whether you have a specific allergy to nickel or other substances.

Also, wash your watch (electronic wipes) and pop the bands off and give them a soak with some dish soap!

Wash your watch regularly and dry it thoroughly before putting it back on. I wash mine daily and take it off when I'm sitting at my desk to let my wrist breathe. Also, wash your wrists every time you wash your hands and dry your skin and the band thoroughly.

I used to put tape on the metal part that sits against the skin.

My skin turned red with the Apple watch. So, wear it loose and applied tinted sunscreen on the area every single day before wearing it.

That's crazy. Dr. Alexis do you have any recommendations for really sensitive dry skin and undereyes. Lately my face, neck and eye area has been really dry. It's so bad it shows under makeup

If I wear a watch on my left for just a few minutes I break out but I can wear a watch for days at a time on my right and nothing happens. It’s very strange and I haven’t seen any information anywhere that may explain that happening.

Omg I had this too! I'm using a Garmin. I suspected that it's the light being emitted from the watch (green light), since I'm not in contact with nickel for the Gaemin watch.

Could it actually be the green light/ infared wavelengths?

I have been wearing smart watches for years, all of a sudden it looks like I have developed an allergy. I now only wear it for the duration of the workout. Even that doesn't help most of the time .

I’m allergic to that damn silicone in my skin for extended periods. Also the nickle too. Funny I was considering getting my as mart watch as long as I could get leather straps but I hadn’t thought about the metal in the back.

It started off small, but mine turned into a nasty, red rash up my arm, that I scratched like crazy, and it was due to a nickel allergy!

I’ve tried every trick in the book. No matter what I do, my Garmin, and most regular watches for that matter, give me a rash that is so bad that it breaks my skin and leaves scars. So, no watches for me. ❌💯🛑

Anyone ever heard of any cases of smartwatches causing irritation on the back of hands? (In my case, it includes skin irritation to the back of the hand connected to the wrist that the smartwatch is never even worn on. 😖)
I love my smartwatch…but just about every time I wear it, I have to deal with irritation of the skin on the back of my hands. I’m not on social media, but I’ve tried several times to find similar cases via YouTube and Google & with no luck. All I ever see is content regarding skin irritation on wrists due to smartwatches, not the back of hands area. It’s really frustrating to deal with, especially because it keeps me from wearing my watch as much as I would like to. But I really wish I could locate some information about similar cases to my own. Because seemingly everyone is talking about skin irritation of the wrist when it comes to the smartwatches & not skin irritation anywhere else because of them. 😭😭

I think I am allergic to my prescription eye glasses. I have developed complete baldness on my edges. I remember developing skin burn/ darkened on my face and neck. I did not figure it out until lately. I am not sure what to do now. Please any suggestions?
