After 4 months I finally had the light bulb after taking a closer look to Jason's mechanics while I was teaching my kids. I can't emphasize enough how much forward shin angle helps with dialing the 10 and 2, especially when you feel the heel pressure alternate between each foot. Big props and thank you to Jason and Train 2.0. on the coach's call where my questions were answered about my challenges with the 10 and 2.

Was sent this by a friend after discussing it. This breaks it down so much better and I always considered my feet being in a straight line and not having the mobility. Will definitely be trying to learn this now.

I’ve been having trouble because I’ve been “holding” the Mohawk like you stated. I’m so stoked to try this on the ice!!! Thank you, you got a sub from me. Keep it up 😀

I will say it should be a little bit of a mobility thing. Don’t rely on your knees in this movement, it will hurt them slightly if you do it a lot but use more of your hips to do this. If you can open your hips up it helps a lot to do this. And hurts less keep the core tight and don’t hyper extend.

I'm excited to try this. You made it seem so approachable! And I like the name 10 & 2.

A great example player for this would be Antonio Stranges I think

"It's a skill thing; not a mobility thing."
Not sure you have seen my immobile hips 🙂
Would like to believe you but it sure feels like a mobility thing. I feel like I can't open up my hips enough to get my front skate pointed in the right direction. The end result is that my front foot carves an arc back to the middle causing me to lose control.
Will keep trying.
Thanks for the great content.

I'm gonna give 10&2 another go, I gave up on it years ago. I have to get super low and it still requires so much tension to keep my hips open, that I've always figured even if I learned it I couldn't put it in my arsenal. I've seen much, much worse skaters than me have no trouble with 10&2. But truth is, just being able to do one 10&2 stride comfortably opens up a ton of options for deception

Mohawk may be the skill thing, but once you practice it a lot you can use it for mobility, quick turns, squeeze thru groups of people. People often ask me for advice how to do it, and how to push yourself forward with same stance in straight line, since they see me do it very fast they often come to me for advice. People also try to copy me, and most of them learn it only from one side, never from both which i know, and i can switch left and right mohawk very fast while going around people
