I read somewhere that ADD is a term that was eventually lumped in with ADHD despite the their slight but very significant differences. ADD didn’t require hyperactivity for a diagnosis as opposed to ADHD, and the problem with calling them both ADHD is that women typically have ADD (no hyperactivity) then you have doctors like mine who ask “are you hyperactive?” Then flat out deny women a diagnosis when they say no. This is why it’s under diagnosed in women. This needs to change because I need some help with my ADD (as do many other women)

This is why I never got my driver's license. Most people don't understand.

Diagnosed when I was 5 and 20 years later it's still a problem. I wish we would call a dopamine deficiency disorder because that's what it really is.

Having ADHD as a person who is an introvert lead to me being diagnosed at 34. It was I who figured it out and went to get tested. I wish I had known as a kid to avoid all the pain etc it's caused but I just wonder if I'd be as strong of a person if I hadn't struggled so much.

I have undiagnosed ADD but a lot of people around me can tell that I have it. I have been told by my mother (diagnosed ADD person) and my school counselor (a woman with ADHD) that I have a high chance of having ADD and I am scheduled to get evaluated Wednesday next week. Hopefully, I can get on a low dose of meds that just help me focus on one thing and allow me to easily move to the next thing. If I do end up having ADD it could explain some of the reasoning behind my (undiagnosed) anxiety (which I am also getting evaluated for next week on Wednesday).

Dr .Tracey I remember not listening to the teacher and staring at her shoes in first grade. I was not hyper I was always daydreaming or staring at objects. If she would ask me a question I didn't hear her, and it was like waking me from sleep.

I have my license, but I’m terrified of driving and this is one of the reasons.

ADHD misdiagnosis is an epidemic. My brother took meds since he was a kid. Go figure, amphetamines make people violent over time. now he’s brutally abusing his girlfriend like he did to me and the other kids at school. Got kicked out of the district in 7th grade, had to go to alternative school 45 min away. My mom “ did u take ur meds today” he’s still taking adderall thinking it’s helping 🤦🏾‍♀️ therapist every week, convincing my mom he needs more amphetamine. For 32 years no changes, any advice!? It’s becoming increasingly popular when I feel there is a medical scam happening

For me ADD looks like * me cleaning my room.... I'll look, I'm gonna pick this up. First wait. I have to do this in order to but that away. But I also want to have free time, so I might just push it a bit... *:(

I was diagnosed with a learning disability with short term memory and was allowed to doodle during class and have someone share my notes with me because it was hard to concentrate and remember with out doodling or keeping my hands busy. I got my hearing checked as a child because I wouldn’t respond when my parents called me but my hearing was fine. I find as an adult I do still have memory issues and difficulty paying attention to things even if I enjoy them I’m wording if I Have ADD and wasn’t hyperactive so they just said “learning disability” it was the late 90’s early 2000’s when I was diagnosed. I don’t really wanna take medication so I maybe should just see if there’s strategies to stay more focused on things.

It's pretty evident when your toddler runs around, falls, gets hurt, gets up and just keeps running around, without noticing that he is hurt. When you have to chase and catch your child, on a regular basis, in order to provide first aid, your child probably has ADHD. When you explain that something is HOT and your child immediately touches the object, he probably has ADHD. When you cannot let go of your child, without them running into the street, he probably has ADHD. They aren't bad, they are impulsive and hyperactive. You aren't a bad parent. You have a very challenging child. Early intervention is helpful. Ignore rude people and don't allow anyone to be critical of your parenting or your child. You need support, and so does your child. Kids with ADD, ADHD are intelligent, creative and wonderful.

I got into accidents for 5 times already. My whole body is full of scars. I need to get myself diagnosed first to confirm this.

ADD is an outdated term. It’s ADHD with 3 subcategories in the DSM-V

ADD & ADHD are very different, using them interchangeably is very deceiving

It’s uncommon to have this come on, in adulthood? Maybe I have something more going on. IJS, I got ALL these disorders! 😵‍💫
