I think the most powerful hooks are the ones where you maintain weight on your front foot. If you’re pivoting too much you don’t have much connection to the ground. Just my thoughts. Feel free to disagree.

This has nothing to do with the way Pereira throws his left hook, his hook is special because of his size and frame, he doesn't have to torque his body to generate the power, he just flicks his elbow out and touches you with it(watch how he put down Jiri at the end of rnd 1 in their 2nd fight)
