My interpretation to revese engineering:

1. Choose an end goal you want
(Ex. Purchase a home)

2. Consider the details to your goal & know what needs to be done
(Ex. Buying home)
Know the location, how many rooms/ bed, cost/ expenses, will I need to work more hours, why do i want it, other alternatives, purpose of it is to live in it or renovate then sale, who do i contact to begin, by when do I want this, do i need to talk to the bank, how much down payment, paid in full, etc.

3. Follow roadmap to the best of your ability on step at a time. In other words, DO IT. Done.

George, I typed in mental reverse engineering and you showed up! A friend of mine introduced this concept to me today and everything you said on here is what he said to me. What you said about working backwards is something my dad confirmed to me MANY years ago in elementary when doing math.


Reverse engineering has humbled me greatly. I found out my strengths and weaknesses in the process and it depressed me a little. Then I looked at myself in the mirror and got the soy out of my system and hyped myself up. Thanks for confirming what I need to do moving forward. Get that house on the beach!

If you can hear traffic at night it def degrades your life. Most houses have shitty soundproofing. Most residential areas in older cities don’t have good design to isolate traffic routes from residential areas.

That part about the beach is a dream of mine too.. I lived in Mississippi right on the Gulf and walked on the beach all the time and loved how I could walk for miles and not see one person. It has been ten years since I left and due to many circumstances I have not been back.. Trying to get over this Lyme Disease and my lost balance. I walk on the beach daily in my mind and know I will get there one day. I agree about the house ownership too.. I will probably rent .. like you said we truly don't own anything anyway..
