I think people are misunderstanding my intentions with this comment. I totally agree that people who value the ring being real over their own relationships were going to crash and burn anyways, but this kid going around doing this was still fucked up, and he knew he would possibly ruin these relationships too. I'm just saying, these people were getting into these arguments about these rings that could as well have been real, but this tester was used and these people got mad over it. When it comes down to it, the engagement ring is a sign of love and prosperity, and was given under the impression it was real. Making people believe it was fake, while it might have revealed some gold diggers and some awful people, when you are under the impression that this special item is real, finding out it is fake would be a bit heartbreaking. It's almost like your spouse didn't think you were actually worth a real ring, and can be interpreted differently but still have that edge of betrayal.

The cheap tester is using a different testing method than the more expensive. In isolation they do not test the same things but a true testing would not just use 1 tester alone. For instance the more expensive would pass a glass filled or treated diamond.

For anyone didn't know the cheap one comes with the papers and it clearly explains that "calibrator" is only used for what size diamond you are measuring so you adjust it based upon size idk what he's really talking about
