I just want to state that literally everyone that are missing teeth would 100% get them replaced if they could afford it. We’re not walking around toothless for the hell of it. Dental care is a privilege in America. The middle class suffers the most.

I had an extraction and never replaced it. It was the best thing ever because I had quite crowded teeth. Now the gap has closed and my teeth have straightened themselves out mostly ☺️

People that have parents that ingrained dental care to them when they are young are so lucky.

This is very helpful, although in my experience the most important factor to determine whether you’re eligible for an implant is whether you have many thousands of dollars in discretionary savings.

I do not have the money or good insurance to get 4 missing teeth done.

It is hard to chew with the top and bottom teeth gone. I have had 5 molers pulled and I now have to microwave carrots to chew them. Eating nuts is not fun like it used to be. I can't afford to get my teeth replaced now. Take care of your teeth!

I had an upper tooth extracted when I was in my 20s. I'm now 40, and everything is well. Sure, the rest moved, but no other issues whatsoever.

Edit 10/18/24: Disclaimer, this is my personal experience. We all have different physiologies so what happened to me may not happen to anyone, and vice versa.

Also, when my pre-molar was removed, the dentist also removed the gums where the pre-molar was. That might have contributed to the slight, if not major, movement of the rest of my upper teeth. Your dentist is still your best resource.

Implants are too expensive for the average American. Payment plans just keep you in debt. Dental tourism is an option; I have friends who traveled to Budapest and Costa Rica for implants at a fraction of USA prices. Safely done, no complications for them. And they didn’t have to drain their savings or take out a second mortgage.

My husband and I both have a missing tooth and have not experienced any problems from it.

I have missing 2 molars on left and right side for 40 years. I never had issues with it. I do not feel my teeth were moving. The xray does not show any movement or shifting at all.

I have had a missing tooth for years, and while I would have liked to replace it I was told 2 things: it would be $5000 and it is not very noticeable. I have a retainer thanks to braces and it does fine dealing with the gap so long as I wear it regularly.

Ive had 1 tooth out and got an implant. Not cheap but highly recommend if you can afford it. Painless procedure and just looks and feels like the real thing. Only downside is once you start treatment, it takes 1 year before the crown is fitted. Happy Tuesday whitney from uk😀🦷

I just got 4 extrations from a slip in the shower. Landed on my 4 front teeth. I just recently retired from the Navy and I'm used to showering in typhoons, so the slip was unexpected. I Currently have a flipper while waiting for the bone to heal. Im a 39 yr old man, and I've never even had a cavity! Goes to show you never know when this info will come in handy! Great information thanks!

I had two molars next to each other extracted 13 yrs ago. So I had to chew on the other side for years before I started getting severe headaches, jaw pain, lock jaw (one jaw opens 2-3 secs ahead of the other), neck pain and shoulder pain. Yes, because I haven't been using the right side for chewing for years, I developed and suffered temporomandibular jaw (TMJ) pain for about 8-9 years now. Despite having undergone physical therapy, worn night guard, and added a bridge on the missing molars so I can use the right side again for chewing, my TMJ pain isn't completely gone. I still experience severe headaches and jaw pain, especially when I'm stressed out. I'm considering masseter botox as a last option but I'm still in the process of researching.

Your explanation and options are great. HOWEVER, personally i feel dental procedures are ridiculously expensive. I have half my mouth with no teeth . Even with insurance, it's too much. If dentist really are concerned about our teeth..then fight for us by lowering cost. It's very unhealthy for people who can't properly chew. 😕

Glad I found your channel 🤘🏻 I didn’t even think about bone loss & replacing a tooth wonder why they didn’t mention it as an option to me when I got my first tooth pulled years ago…

I have two missing in my bottom jaw. Both the teeth are the first to last tooth in the back of my mouth. But I haven’t had any problems. And can chew just fine. The only thing i’ve been told is that my teeth will just shift if I don’t fill in the gaps. I don’t trust getting an implant because i think it gives a higher risk of infection.

Good. video. I had one extracted about ten years ago. I do have some bone loss. About three years ago, my dentist started the implant process. However, shortly after he placed the post, I developed more bone loss, and terrible bleeding. Turns out, I'm allergic to titanium. We've spent the past three years rebuilding my jaw because of this.
