Thank you so much for the recommendations! Idk if you watch Math Sorcer on YT, but I love these kind of videos about books. Keep it up man!

PDEs was my toughest course as a math major. For me, harder than real analysis or abstract algebra or topology. I had to spend an insane amount of time on it.

Thanks for the PDE recommendations. I studied math at small schools, and they didn't have a lot of applied classes.

I used Elementary Partial Differential Equations w/ B.V.P. written by Larry C. Andrews for my PDE class, it was an old textbook written in the mid 80's but it was very clear and concise and well organized which I appreciated. I felt I had a very solid foundational understanding of PDE's after reading that textbook and taking a course where that was the primary textbook used. I will admit it was hard to find solutions to the problems outside of the ones provided to you in the back of the textbook, but after scouring the internet and talking with my professor once you find the solutions I felt the course was easily digestible.

Back to the time I was a student (long long ago) we used: H. F. Weinberg: A first course in Partial Differential Equations with complex variables and transform methods. (it wasn't that bad). I enjoyed more the text by Fritz John: Partial Differential Equations. We also used Courant-Hilbert: Methods of Mathematical Physics ( a bit old fashion).

Really appreciate your reviews ... you were correct, I found all three on the web

Loved these recommendations. I have tried to solve some analytical BVP problems in my PhD (related to heat transfer) and would mostly just revert back to separation of variables (which leads to long winding solns). I am going to try and learn the domain decomposition method to make my toolbox more diverse.

Would love to get your take on books for complex functions ( taking a course in my second year in EE) ! Great channel btw !

Excellent recommendations!
can you make a video on books about difference equations?
keep the good work man!

I actually picked up Bleecker after Real Analysis 1. Currently going through it. It’s definitely on the easier side now after doing a lot of math courses. But I like it because I wanted to get introduced to solving. And it’s doing the job.

5:46 "chor-DOSH" is as close as you can get using English spelling conventions. The name is Hungarian, so the 'cs' digraph represents what in English and Spanish is represented by 'ch', and 's' is pronounced the way 'sh' is in English (the hard 's' is represented by 'sz' in Hungarian).

Thanks for this video. I'm taking a PDE course right now using Strauss and it's making me feel very dumb.

Check out "Partial Differential Equations in Physics" by Arnold Sommerfeld; it is very thought-provoking.

does pde require real/complex/functional analysis or whatever those sort of branches of analysis?

I used the Fowler book on PDE during my Calculus IV course, I found it quite easy to read. Idk how much it costs tho, I just used the pdf and printed lol.

Thanks for the video!
What book would you recommend for 2nd order linear PDEs? Both theory and problem-solving.

I want to recommend the book that " Partial differential equations Methods and Applications " by Robert McOwen
