How to fix the red disconnected icon on Apple Watch

Does your Apple Watch have the red box at the top showing it's disconnected from your iPhone? Here's the quick method (actually two) to fix that problem.

First, try on your watch - turn the watch on airplane model, then turn airplane mode off.

If that doesn't fix it, try going to your iPhone and turning Bluetooth off, and then back on.

Thanks for getting me started. This solution did not work that simply for me, but it got me going. Got none of the indicators shown here, Problem is that this solution assumes that the watch app is updated. Only after I reset the watch did I realize that the iPhone Watch App had to be updated which took several hours to complete as Apple seem to have added a lot more capability than I recall seeing 6 mos ago. Once the App was updated on the iPhone, everything shown here proved to be correct and worked precisely as described. The take home lesson is to make sure you allocate serious time to update the watch app.

Wonderful. Only video that addressed my "Disconnected" Apple Watch. But for me a new user, it too a bit to find the Airplane. Rather than turn Airplane Off and back On, I just tapped the Airplane, and Voila! It reconnected! Thanks.
