Hey man. I feel this song so much. My mother passed in 2020. It was just me and her against the world growing up. This song reminds me of how wonderful she was and how lucky I was to have her. Nothing prepares you for a loss like that. It never goes away. But why would you want it to? I never want to forget her. All you can do is try to be the best you can be. And hopefully make her proud.

I lost my mom 2 years ago last December. These songs hit me so very hard, just like they do you. It’s because Zach is able to describe the heartbreak and loss that we are experiencing. You’re not alone in your emotions when listening to his songs.

This is my favorite ZB song. When I hear it, I feel it from the mom’s point of view. The first time I listened to it, my oldest son was preparing to move out and it hit me like a ton of bricks - made me cry! But it sums up that feeling of how moms put themselves aside to raise their kids, and then simultaneously being left behind but also being so damn proud of them when they leave to make their way in the world. “All you ever wanted was to see your children fly.” Words I live by.
