VIDEO SPECIFIC INFO HERE:
Volkswagen has gotten rid of the CC to replace it with this all new Arteon. This sleek, beautiful sedan now sits as the new flagship sedan and even comes with a proper sportback styling. In this video I travel over 2,000 miles in the new Volkswagen Arteon and find out that it's VERY UNDERRATED!

Don't fear the 20" wheels as it drives just as smooth due to the DCC & suspension. Reliability? I've owned VWs since 2005 with zero issues. Got the SE with R-line and paid no where near MSRP so don't fear the price either. Got $5, 300 off which makes this car a bargain and it has all the room of a small SUV in the back - loving it!

Been driving the CC for the past 8 years and now been driving the Arteon for a month and it blew me away. I appreciate that the Arteon took a few pages from the CC in terms of fuel economy and looks and it is a worthy successor. Loving every bit of it! Great review, bro!

Nice car, but don't buy new, let someone else pay the first two years of depreciation, then buy used and still under manufacturer warranty.

I just purchased the R-Line Premium. Fully loaded. And I tell you it's a head turner. Very sweet running vehicle. Performs well. Will be doing a S1 tune to boost to 335 hp. As far as price I got $8, 000 discount on mine plus my Honda Accord trade in. Never been happier. Nice and proper review. By the way the seat confort moving up to the premium is even better. 😊

I am awaiting a leased Arteon, to be delivered in January 2020. I live in Germany. I tested multiple Arteon versions (and of course competitor vehicles) before ordering. This is a great car. It is larger, but so maneuverable that you do not recognize the size when driving. 4 can sit in great comfort and the cargo space is more than many SUVs in this size category. I have also ordered what you cannot get - a 170 HP version. This engine is 2 seconds slower 0-60mph, but I cruised at 110 mph in both and the 170HP version can reach 140 mph, so why do I need so much more? On our very curvy slalom-like roads, which I drive on every day, both cars drove great. When passing, the smaller engine did great - the torque and kick-in of power was just fine (and I got even better mpg than you did with that smaller hp car!). Anyway, it is a great car, but too expensive here and there. I got a very discounted rate for mine, otherwise I might not have made the deal. Both 4-cyl. are smooth and I cannot see a need to put a 6-cyl. in here, except for prestige or exhaust-sound reasons.

Attractive vehicle. Would consider it...but not for $45k. Dealer would have to discount that down.

An A7 clone for about half the price - seems okay to me!

Test drove an R-Line model last week, it's very impressive. Dealer rep told me that incentives will be better in spring 2020. Thanks for the review!

Bought my 2019 SEL Premium R-Line for $40K USD. Had the APR+ performance software downloaded before delivery. Fabulous ride!

‘Glide’ is the perfect description. My CC glides down the road. Love driving it. I would consider this car.

The Clam shell hood looks great! I cannot wait to pick up a used example in the future.

VW is a very good car and much underrated in US.
The reliability is the same then Audi for much less money.
I owned 6 VW and the one in Germany is now 32 years old and still running strong.

I wanted an Arteon but even with the current "Corona" deals it was still way above my price range. I got a 2020 Passat R-Line instead.

Kudos for a comprehensive, detailed, and unusually perceptive review, Forrest. I was especially impressed by your comments about the performance of the Arteon as a true Grand Touring vehicle designed to be driven comfortably for hours at high speeds, often more than 100 mph, on immaculately maintained highways in Europe. You didn't have the opportunity to drive the Arteon on the Autobahn where they are a frequent site but you did get to drive of Texas highways that are probably the closest imitation of the Autobahn in America. Unfortunately at nowhere near the speed for which the Arteon is designed. I'd add that true European GT's like the Arteon are designed to be driven on back roads, often paved over the winding cobblestone roads laid down as long as 2000 years ago by the Romans. Our wide open spaces and the fact that much of the country has neither frequent curves in our roads nor mountains to climb make those requirements less critical for many Americans.

All that illustrates a fundamental difference in the way Europeans and Americans tend to define "performance." There's a reason that Americans invented drag races and stock car racing on high bank oval tracks while Europeans invented rallies, sports cars, and road racing on actual roads or tracks designed to emulate them. To Americans "performance" is measured by 0-60 and quarter mile times. That's not the perspective of Europeans especially in reference to Grand Touring vehicles. Your review illustrates the difference well.

The road noise is from the tires. Those tires are notoriously hard and noisy. Throw some softer tires on there and it’ll be silent

I agree with you. Every one of the other car channels tries to compare it directly to an A7. It’s not an Audi. I went and test drove one and was highly impressed. Most dealerships that I went to had it mark at least $8000 under MSRP. $38, 000 for an SEL Premium R-Line is an outstanding value IMO.
