Working Memory is sometimes a struggle for me because of my ADHD. I Have been so forgetful lately that it made me curious to look into the connection between Working Memory and Adult ADHD. I forget to close my front door, to close cabinets, to finish the process of making dinner, forgetting schedules, forgetting where I left things...the list for me lately is ever growing,...and I know I can't remember all the times I forgot. I know that I am not alone here, but it is all the time lately! Who else struggles with forgetfulness more than they feel they should? I hope I'm not alone!

My two most common phrases are:
What was I doing
And
What was I thinking

I would forget my lunch if I didn't put the car keys in the fridge with it 😆

I feel like people with adhd are more prone to being gas lighted since our memory is so bad (at least mine) and unless I write or record something, I'll totally forget and rely on the other person's memory to tell me what happened

Yeah, I've tried making lists. Then I forgot to check them lol. Routine works for me. I always put my wallet and keys in my backpack.

I could be in mid sentence talking about something. Someone makes a comment distracting me for a second. And all of a sudden, I totally can’t remember what I was talking about.

"Wanting to remember to buy something off of Amazon Prime when you don't even know if you really need it"

This is the *perfect* way of describing that weirdly vague, forgetful anxiety!!

Sometimes I hyper-focus on my thoughts and get anxiety attacks 🙃

in school I used to walk up to my teachers with a question and forget why I was there and what I meant to ask. I even forgot I was there completely sometimes I just stood there smiling in my own world. It was low-key creepy. I had no idea what adhd was back then but my friends used to call it sss syndrome, standing smiling staring syndrome. Hearing this makes so much sense now

This is great! I've never been diagnosed, but I have felt for a long time that I have Adult ADD. Everyone in my family knows how forgetful I am and I always have multiple "tabs" open (both literally and metaphorically). I make tons of lists or else I would never get anything done! And I can totally relate to going to the store and forgetting the one thing that I went in there to buy!

Watching this and reading the comments first made me giggle (lack of working memory really forces some funny creativeness, and not to mention distractions) and then burst into tears. I got diagnosed with ADD recently and am looking at the very last couple weeks of waiting for meds (a process of 4-5 years), researching to get a better understanding of what's in front of me. As many others seem to have done, I've questioned (a lot) whether or not the diagnosis is correct, or if "I'm just weird and whacky". No blood test will ever give a definitive result, I guess, but knowing that others share the same difficulties, struggling in similar ways, it somehow comforting and hits hard on an emotional level. Relying on other peoples memory - huge check on that one! So tiring, and totally gives you that feeling of being worthless sometimes. So, big love to all fellows... uhm, what was I thinking about? Oh, and I made a drawing in Illustrator during a break from writing this comment! From a thought that came up out of thougths for it :D And oh, sry it's so lengthy, just couldn't keep it short ;P Peace out!

You got me the minute you finished your story about going to Target for batteries and once you walked into your apartment your brain said “watch this” 😂😂😂😂. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ardelle, just wanted to say thank you for all your videos and this one in particular. Your videos remind me that I'm not alone and that other ADHDers are having the same problems as me. With the support of your channel and others, I'm almost proud to say I have ADHD!

I can be easily forgetful when I have so much going on. Meditating really helps and writing out lists. I need to work more on exercise to beef up my energy, strength and memory. Thanks Ardelle!

I have a reminder at the door with something written like keys, nothing on the gas, heating, phone. But then you shouldn't forget to look on it.. lol

Yes absolutely. I use files on my desktop, lists on my phone, calendar on outlook, phone. I send myself emails. If I write something down I w lose it, but the action helps me remember. While working I keep a note pad going on side. 🥰

Lists are great but I often forget to check the list or forget I made it then find it later! Also if I plan routines I never stick to them- too boring - or I forget I made them anyway

Working on a cook line is like juggling balls. All the tickets. Under the pressure I break.

Adhd, cptsd, traumatic brain injury. 🧠
