I make my own bio-available magnesium supplement totally without additives. I buy pure magnesium hydroxide, which is quite cheap and mix it with an organic acid of my choice to get an organic magnesium salt. If I use lemon juice, I get magnesium citrate, if I use taurine I get magnesium taurinate, if I add apple cider vinegar to that I get magnesium acetyl taurinate, which is really well absorbed by the brain. When I use apple juice I get magnesium malleate etc. I add an excess of acid to make sure all the alkalinity of the magnesium is neutralized, also it tastes much better that way.
