Florida plans to transition child protection investigations away from sheriffs' offices

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is planning to take over child protection investigations from seven sheriffs' offices around the state, according to a new letter obtained by 8 On Your Side from DCF Secretary Shevaun Harris.

Sounds like CPS wants to not have anyone else involved in what they do. I don't trust them at all, too many horror stories of their actions that had horrible outcomes. Most of them don't give a single 💩about the kids. I've had personal involvement with other people's kids, friends & neighbors in situations and I wasn't impressed with CPS to say the least.

Private and public sectors need each other to keep each other in check. Both can easily be the bad guy

I don't TRUST CPS. They are overloaded per case worker. To many kids fall through the cracks with them. Both the SHERIFF'S DEPT & CPS NEED TO WORK TOGETHER For the Safety of the Kids.

Very bad idea. Especially when workers are coming in from other countries and handling cases that shouldn't be a case at all. The school systems are working with them and probing kids for home information. I'll leave it at that.

No No No God A BILLION times No. HUGE mistake How many children's home situations did the DCF "investigate" that they did home checks on saying everything was just fine only to end up with the child DEAD later? To many to count. Having the Sheriff's office involved acts also as a deterrent. Consider this the parents quick class to get their ship together or go to jail. Works wonders.

Of course she wouldn’t want it to change because she has something to do with it in the beginning, but police need to do their job and let some of these people who went to school and trained for family services work. Police can sometimes be too controlling with these families they need to protect the streets and run backup

How do you have a "smooth transition" without a law and then give legislators a chance to "get on board" in a few months or so?
Is that how the law works in Florida? Or is that Totally backwards?
Is this a reflexive reaction to Sheriff Grady Judd's recent Human Trafficking Bust of hundreds of people?

Relax.
The Sheriff, will still be involved. And so will the Governor's office.

Well that's not good DCF in my opinion seeing how I worked for one in a different state. They did not care about the kids. I had kids on the opposite side of the state that were in secure lockdown and it was impossible to get them secure transportation to get them back to where the office was. So what we had was children on mental health drugs and their prescriptions would run out and they couldn't get refills. I quit because of this.

Rather see my tax dollars for the sheriff’s offices to fight crime. If there is a separate group for just that, let them have it. You cal always call if you have problems.
