The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 will arrive soon. NVIDIA Thermal Engineer Malcolm Gutenburg joined us to show a number of RTX 5090 Founders Edition finished and prototype samples, including liquid metal, 3D vapor chambers with claimed world-first designs, and careful dual blow-through design of the finstack. This engineering deep-dive discussion gets into the details of thermal engineering for a 575W-capable cooler. While we haven't tested it yet, our review of the NVIDIA RTX 5090 will likely be in the works soon, and that'll include thermal benchmarking and testing. In the meantime, we'll go over the engineering details with Malcolm.

Love when someone so visibly loves their job.

The best PR is an engineer talking from the heart while we genuinely want to know what he's saying.

I don't know if NVIDIA employees read these comments, but thank you for being this open and allowing your engineer to have this highly interesting and educational discussion with public media. I really appreciate clever engineering and this card is amazing.

I've never witnessed an interview like this before where the person asking the questions really knows their stuff and therefore asks such great questions, AND the person answering the questions really knows their stuff and has all the answers. Brilliant.

I don't even want the 5090, but this dude's enthusiastic personally and awesome engineering is selling me on it.

Malcolm's genuine enthusiasm for the 50 series is doing more to sell it to me than any flashy advertising campaign.

Man it's awesome to see someone so young so good at their jobs with all the passion and huge companies backing him. What a lad.

Gamers Nexus: Roast the corpos; praise the engineers. Absolutely love it, and love the videos that are just pure geekery about the hardware

This guy looks so young, yet completely dominates everything he is talking about. What a treat to see a genius working with passion like that.

As a propulsion engineer that works with a lot of propellers I deeply loved and appreciated the fan blade talking!! From the start I knew why the little scoop in the fin blades was there and he said it!!!

Nice to see Malcom back again the previous video with him on the heatsink and thermal design was one of the best pieces you did.

This is perhaps my favorite type of GN content. Despite being less formal and less scripted, Steve does such a good job asking intelligent people intelligent questions and letting them and the cool technology speak for itself without oversimplification or sensationalism. Obviously, huge kudos to Malcolm too for being an engaging and highly intelligent presenter!

Obviously, I don’t know Malcom, but what a seemingly exceptional young man. Enthusiastic, educated, well-spoken. This is the perfect kind of person Nvidia wants to represent their business. I know that he’s likely being paid handsomely for his work and his stock has likely popped 10 times over, but it appears to be well deserved and well worth it. Kudos to this young man, and may his enthusiasm continue to inspire him to make great products.

These videos with Malcolm has pretty much single handedly changed what kind of engineering I am looking to study. I wasn't even aware of Thermal Engineering being a significant catagory of engineering and now it is the thing I am most heavily considering. To everyone involved in these videos, thank you so much for the work put into making this happen. This series of videos may change the course of my entire career.

Malcolm presenting the cooler design and development has done more to sell me on the 50-series cards than any of the AI gimmicks have ever done.

Nvidia should give Malcolm his own leather jacket!

I can't begin to state how much appreciation I have for Nvidia for allowing this interview and on top of that getting a nearly 600w gpu down to only 2 slots. This is innovation everyone can appreciate.

Honestly the amount of engineering here makes me more willing to spend the money. Please continue sending engineers to explain how much goes into this.
