For anyone with a 4090, if you think a 5070 is faster than a 4090, I'll trade you a 5070 plus $500 cash for your old slow 4090.

one question... if we are getting 3 fake frames for 1 real frame, can we pay for that Graphics card with 3 fake dollar bills for every 1 real dollar bill?

DLSS 5: You watch AI play the game. Buttery smooth experience, zero latency.

Old McJensen had a frame, AI AI OH!
And from that frame he made three more, AI AI OH!
And there were fake frames here, and fake frames there, faking performance everywhere.

That's it. I'm waiting for the RTX 6050. I will only have 4 GB RAM, but it will generate 20 AI frames for every real one, so it will be just as fast as the 5090.

Fun fact: Jensen said the word "AI" around ~205 times in Nvidia keynote which was 60 more than AMD said in theirs. Looking at that we can deduce, the new Nvidia cards will be at least 30% better than AMD cards.

Nvidia isn't selling cards that render your games
Nvidia is selling cards that imagine your games

I think the massive gap between the 5090 and 5080 was entirely done on purpose by Nvidia so that they could release the 5080 Ti at $1500 or something crazy for the mid gen refresh. The tested the waters with the 4080 at $1200, but now they can offer a 15-30% performance boost with a 5080 Ti over the base 5080 in order to "justify" whatever arbitrary price point they choose between $1k and $2k

New reality: GPU generates 20 FPS and additional 100 fps are achieved using AI.

The term brute force rendering pisses me off so much. Brute force? You mean using the GPU as, you know… a GPU, instead of an NPU?

RTX 5090:

30% faster than 4090 (ignoring framegen, pure raster)
30% more power consumption than 4090
30% more expensive
30% larger die size on the same process node

Such innovation, much wow.

Yeahh finally someone said it. These claims are bullshit. I’m even gonna go ahead and say the rtx 5080 isn’t as fast as the rtx 4090. 10700 cuda cores is not going to beat 16300. It’s almost 60% more cuda cores, and i refuse to believe they have had a 40-60% ipc improvement this generation

Anyone else basically doesn’t care about ai upscaling and only want info about native performance?

I am really looking forward to the actual testing of these new cards.

1 real frame to 3 fake frames?? This is pretty much how nVidia sees the world, 1/4 reality and 3/4 fairyland with this line up.

A 70 series GPU with only 12GB of VRAM? Does it come inside a cereal box as well?

Just a reminder,
This is going to be the most cut down generation in Nvidia's history. The 5080 is a tiny 45% of the 102 die. We used to get 80-95% from 80 class cards.

Add in more hardware locked features, absurd wattages, the lack of a node shrink, and a heap of misleading marketing.

It is my sincere suggestion to let these cards rot. Nvidia has completely lost the plot.

Accounting for inflation, the 3080 launched at around $860. So it's still a 16% increase in price for the 5080 after two generations
