Isn’t “wer” where we also get “were” as in “werewolf”?

It’s also worth mentioning that “human” is not related to “man” at all

I love the parallel:
Wer - old english, Vyras - Lithuanian (my home language)

Wer is also related to English werewolf (man-wolf) equivalent to German: Wehrwolf and has a second meaning which is "defense, protection" related to modern German "Wehr" protection "Gewehr" and it's where the Wehr in Wehrmacht and Bundeswehr comes from.

I was thinking of this when you talked about Esperanto criticism for woman being suffixed man.

koine Greek has "anthropos" ανθροπος. Which has a meaning closer to human. But some people still insist on that it means exclusively "dudes".

I can see language change even in this video, history down the drain but this here helps revive it sorta.

I highly recommend this guy visits around England and listen to the rural English regional accents, he'll be very surprised by the pronunciation and how much in common it has with old English, the more north you go the stronger it is (with the exception of Scouse, which is an Irish corruption brought by immigrants)

Haha I live in London and I pronounce man with an old English accent!
In German they still say weiblich (cognate with"wifely") to mean just female
