What is the KJV Only movement? Is the King James Version the only Bible we should use?

Here's a good analogy (and I speak as an English teacher at the high-school, first-year and second-year college levels). Students in Europe (including Germany, Romania, Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain, whose citizens I have personally inquired about this) all study the plays of Shakespeare, as do the students in the U. K., Canada and the U. S. However, Non-English speaking students do not study Shakespeare in the original language, nor do they study his plays in modern English. In every case around Europe, high school students study Shakespeare in the modern language of their own countries. Based on the rest of Europe, I see no reason that contemporary, English-speaking high-school students should study Shakespeare in the language of Shakespeare's time. Let the older English be reserved for the English majors in universities, but let's stop needlessly torturing high-school students who only need to be familiar with the stories of Shakespeare's plays.

Similarly, the KJV of the Bible needs to be put on the shelves, reserved only for those who like to study Bible translations. It is no longer for general consumption, especially since lots of KJV readers reach wrong conclusions based on terminology in that translation that has changed meaning over the centuries. The KJV is antiquated and must be supplanted by modern translations, which are better able to do God's service to his people.

The first backdrop in this video where the man and woman are arguing barefoot by what seems to be like a pool or resort-ish place captures this beautifully.
Christians in America are arguing about translations in air conditioned churches with patted seats, indoor plumbing, etc, while Christians in North Korea are put in camps for even claiming to be Christian. Christians in Uganda murdered for being Christian.

To the Christian listening to me, Titus 3:9, "...avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments, and quarrels about the law, because these things are pointless and worthless."
Instead, read God's word, tell others about Jusus, meet together and take of the communion, pray, be generous with your money and time, worship, and God will add people to His church(Acts 2:42-47).

It's all got errors, eveb the newer translations teaching work based salvation and it's ignorant to not improve it. I read all the translations and just choose what sounds better in context. I think it's ignorant to only hear one translation.

I was at a church and they were reading out of the King James Version and there was a lot of stumbling over the texts, that’s good of enough reason for me not to read it . I also found that a church that is King James only, is very cultish . To say their version is the only one, not true . If you don’t understand what you’re reading in the Bible, how is there a true conversion?

Notice how he does everything but refute the claims that the TR is the best textual basis?

NKJV doesn't just remove archaic language in many places it makes it more archaic. It ignores the textus receptus in about 1200 places. Also you're contradicting yourself when you say the NKJV is an update of the old KJV, why did they need to resort to the TR if it's just an update?

"Modern bibles use modern a language"
You say the modern bibles are translated into the way we speak today, how is this true when modern versions use Hades and Sheol? or verses like Job 3:8 "Raise up leviathan"?

There's lots of verses in the bible which have been translated from what was their original tongue: Joseph in Egypt, Jesus talking Hebrew in the synagogues translated into Greek, the apostles quoted Hebrew Scripture in Greek...

Says in 3:10 "Only the original languages are the Word Of God as He inspired it." Then here comes a man named Peter Ruckman who says, "if the Original Greek and Hebrew contradict the KJB, throw out the Greek and Hebrew!" - analyzing it, KJOnlyism is a very sinister form of IDOLATRY.

The King James version is THE HOLY BIBLE for all English speaking people. It is not archaic, it's "modern" English and even helped the English language grow and spread around the world. There was Old English, Middle English, and Modern English. The KJV was translated during the period of Modern English we are STILL in. Like in any book, if you run across a word that confuses you then look it up (research it).

did you want me to give you a few dozen verses where the NKJV took excessive at Haggai 1:10... the KJV.. states "therefore the Heaven over you is stayed"... the NKJV.. reads "therefore the Heavens ABOVE you.."... guess what?.. the intended meaning of the word "OVER ".. in the KJV.. was "BECAUSE"...this was meant like the phrase "IT IS NOT WORTH FIGHTING the over was Not intended to be a description of the location.. but what did the NKJV do?.. they changed the word "over".. to now no one reading this verse in the NKJV.. will have any idea.. that word over was intended to mean "because".. how is this a clarification?...

KJV is absolutely awesome. The only issues I have with the NIV are the odd translation here and there like 1 Corinthians 1:18 where NIV and all other translations say the preaching of the cross is foolishness but those who are BEING saved it is the power of God. The KJV says those who ARE saved.. which makes more sense... You are saved or you aren't. There is no BEING saved and this is a sad mistranslation from the original Greek.

Genesis 22:8..KJV ..."God will provide Himself a NKJV.."God will provide FOR Himself a lamb..."...

what was the purpose of adding the word.."FOR"..?... was this passage too hard to understand..?..

by simply adding the word "For".. the NKJV translators.. totally eradicated the idea that God, Himself.. was the lamb.. changing this verse from a prophetic verse regarding JESUS.. to just another verse in the bible..

Is that Not what Satan did in the garden..".. Yea hath God said?"....
this passage change alone.. without reaon would cause me to question the motive behind the NKJV...

I could show you a thousand more but.. if the ones I mentioned do not show you why the NKJV is not a better translation and that its not just in the KJV users minds... I doubt if any others I mention will change your mind..
