This Belgian Malinois Is Trained To A Military Standard | BIG DOGZ

WHEN Michael Rogosin got his first dog six years ago, a Belgian Malinois called Ares, he couldn't find a dog training group that matched his needs or vision. Michael had the ambition to train Ares to the highest standard possible so that the canine would be qualified as a K9 for Navy Seal and law enforcement. He also had the dream of abseiling down a building with Ares on his back. When Michael, who didn't have any prior experience, decided to train Ares himself, others called him an 'idiot'. Michael said: "[Belgian Malinois] is not the dog for a first-time pet owner. You have to have experience. I was scared but I was totally focused on the results." Michael wasn't put off by people's comments and kept going. He incorporated his military experience into his training methods and took to social media to document his journey. It was also through his social media that Michael has caught the attention of high-end clients and military around the world, including armed forces in Belgium, Spain and Germany. After becoming a licensed dog trainer, Michael set up his own dog training company, Tactical K9 Family, to take his dreams even further. Michael has purchased a second dog, Athena, and is planning to move to Los Angeles to continue building his business.

My husband is retired military with PTSD. He was matched up with a Belgian Malinois service dog. I have never seen a service dog like this and most impressed. They are attentive, obey commands, and completely ignores other animals/ pets. He is hyper focused on his handler, my husband. Beautiful dog. Quiet. Fast. And most importantly helps my husband when the PTSD hits him. Thank you for sharing this video.

Watching literally hundreds of Belgian Malinois video shorts on YouTube has made me appreciate how truly unique these dogs are, and that they require someone who will be 100% dedicated to their training and well-being. I am glad Michael stresses the importance of training, and that Belgian Malinois generally should not have a first-time dog owner. He takes his job as Ares' and Athena's guardian seriously, and it shows.

I love Belgians. They are so smart, loyal, and highly active. They can die from broken hearts because the bond is so strong to their human... or family. The dogs are high activity, protective, loving, and if one decides to invite a Belgian Malenois into your life... it must be for their lifetime. I have 2 GSD's and they were instrumental in my rehabilitation after a PTSD diagnosis. My "boys" were trained by myself and my neighbor who was an EOD tech and dog handler in the navy. Working dogs are amazing. Those dogs that are not working dogs, work as well and are invaluable for rehabilitation for anyone dealing with stress, anxiety or PTSD. Thanks to my loving family and 2 amazing pups who are now 4, I am well on the way to a life I didn't think was possible.
