I'm saying this to the average family. I had 3 Belgium and 2 Dutch shepherds all rescues. Please do your research. These are working dogs. 8 to 12 hrs a day they work. You need at least a minimum of 1 hr a day. Vigorous exercise with them. Yard with room to run. Not a lap dog or a couch potato. They need owners who interact with them. A great alternative is a German shepherd dog. Belgiums 🇧🇪 are 100 % at everything they do. I rescued these dogs because of nothing. Great dogs were misunderstood by the owners. I hope this helps if you're watching that movie "Dog" 🎬. Not for the faint of heart. Please think a 100 times first. Talk to other Belgium owners.

about 5 1/2 months ago i had a truck infront of me come to a stop and throw a 1 week old mallinois puppy out the window she didn’t even have her eyes open yet, and of course i stopped and got her but fast forward to today i’ve only trained her what i’m capable of(which is my first god training and i’m not the best by far) but there’s no amount of money i would take for this dog. the bond we have and the love this dog has for me is unbelievable

While on patrol at 2am 1 morning my dog sense something was wrong she instinctively blocked my path...won't allow me to pass ..stood and kept blocking me.. just blocked me and stared a bit off ..only to see back up arrived and found 2 criminals hiding 70 feet from me....rest in peace cleo in doggie careful of ppl but love and trust your dog....its the only and ONLY thing that loves u more than itself

We have a Malinois. They are great dogs... smart as a whip and extremely athletic. They are good family dogs if given the exercise they require. Nash our Malinois bonded to the family quickly from 8 weeks but favors the companion who feeds and exercises him. I've had a dog about every 15 years and this Malinois is the best dog breed I've had.

Back in the day I owned 2 GSD's, but I took in a Malinois, while his owners were on vacation, now these are high energy dogs, try to think he is missing his folks, and the high energy, but still being a great dog. After three weeks vacation, he becomes one of my favorites. Although I had my GSD's. The three of them were friends, so I had three high energy dogs. Walking was easy, and other dogs stayed away from the pack. It was a great experience for me, and for the Malinois as well.

We have one now. He is 6mts and everything you said...and more🤣, is true. We finished this morning our 3 mile walk and he still was doing dead sprints, jumping over the cut down tree and managed to jump in the swamp too. Had to rinse him off at the park.... When we got home...nap time...model citizen 😊. Peace and quite ..for a little while=bliss.

Great explanation of the breed. I have a German Shepard/Malinois mix and she is all you describe and capable of more. They are a full time presence daily and WOW the owner best be ready for the intense training, exercise and companions they are. She accompanies me everywhere and is admired by all who we encounter. High energy/intense companion not a lay around type pet.

I have German Shepherds and I have my first Malinois. I absolutely love my baby girl and I see the difference between the two.

These are an extraordinarily wonderful dog. Great temperament, sharp attitude and always willing to learn. You can't go wrong with this dog as long as you have the time to spend with it.
As a word of caution to the uninitiated dog owners about hip and joint dysplasia. Do NOT get your dogs neutered before the age of two. This will give them time to properly grow, have proper bone density and will help to prevent a whole host of potential health issues.

A wonderful dog going through some rough days in Spain. The “trendy dog owners” have flooded shelters with them once they realize these dogs are serious about their role and work in the house. Definitely not a dog for a first time dog owner. Great video 👍👍👍

I love this breed, so much so that I would never own one and I am one who spends years with training and conditioning for any dog that I own but these dogs need a job and my lifestyle doesn’t allow enough for them. Beautiful animals.
